I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Mr. Roxy re the number of nominees. I get that the prestige comes in being selected the top 5, and yet the huge omissions this year for some of the acting races were rather unfortunate (how David Oyelowo was not selected is beyond me).
Naomi Watts should have definitely gotten in this year for turning in excellent work in ST. VINCENT and BIRDMAN.
In terms of other years, the ones that always come to mind are ones that should have won but weren't even nominated: Nicole Kidman for BIRTH, Naomi Watts for MULHOLLAND DRIVE, Dennis Quaid for FAR FROM HEAVEN, and Matt Damon for THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY.
