LOVE the pics, Miss Pennywise!!
Completely reminds me of my life in the 70's. Same wood panelling too!
Your mom seems like loads of fun. Dad, too!

Jane - I was able to go to the artist's web site and blow this up a little.
This is another one - Carol Channing - by the artist, Jason Mecier:
This is another one of Phyllis. I don't know if Mecier created it or if it's by another artist. I understand that Phyllis has this by her fireplace:
Miss P - Until I saw the photos of your parents I had forgotten how very young you are! They look like pictures of my friends in the 60's and 70's. They are both gorgeous!

Thank you Jane. The more I look at that third collage the more I'm convinced it was made by Mecier. The brocade background fabric, the upholstery tacks around the edge, the pearl teeth. It's a match to the Carol Channing collage which appears on his web site.

Posted: 2/18/08 at 4:03amHis choice of celebrities is hysterical. My only gripe is that the Joan van Ark link doesn't work. I feel that Phyllis is his finest work, though.

Here's a clearer version of the Diller pic.

LOVE the collages!
Would you say that Joan Rivers followed in Diller's footsteps but with an acerbic tone? I think Phyllis was rather endearing.

Posted: 2/18/08 at 8:38pmI ALWAYS loved Diller. Is it true she played DOLLY for some reginals? what timing. And her USO work was really inspiring. I like Joan Rivers too (would love to see that new play of hers after seeing her in the Neil Simon play on B'way) but I agree Diller always seemed more endearing somehow...Rivers is like love-child of Diller and Don Rickles.

just watched Goodnight, We Love You and I am amazed. There is no other word for it. What an incredibly talented woman! And I'm not even talking about her career as a groundbreaking comedian.
I hope she's hanging in there. More power to you, Madam!

Oh, Geez, when I saw this thread, I thought that she was dead!
I'd hate to think of a world without Phyllis Diller.
Back in the 70's, I had copies of the books that she wrote about housekeeping and cooking back in the '60's. One of her pieces of advice is that if unexpected company drops by and the house is a mess, start crying and say to them "Who could have broken in and done this? I don't have any enemies!"
And I LOVE that she's in her '80's and does the voice of Peter's mother in "Family Guy"!

She turned 90 last July! She's fabulous!

Has anyone seen this crazy movie? Phyllis plays a villainess called "Camille Salamander" who is searching for the fountain of youth. Jayne Mansfield does a lot of pouting.
