I've learned Paramount's top execs missed last night's South Park episode viciously spoofing Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for "raping" Indiana Jones in this summer's fourquel. No, I mean really recreating those rape scenes from The Accused and Deliverance and scattering them throughout the incredibly racist episode. My info is that Paramount will look into this on Friday with parent company Viacom which produces the savage adult toon.
I learned about the episode from a tipster, saw it, and thought OH MY GOD.
Remember how Tom Cruise was upset with Viacom for allowing South Park to air the infamous "Trapped in the Closet" episode? I can't begin to imagine what Brad Grey and Rob Moore, and Spielberg and Lucas, will say to Viacom. Especially since Paramount confirmed to me this week that an Indiana Jones 5 is a very, very real possibility and that Lucas has already begun development on it.

The video. Warning, its not for everyone but I thought it was hilarious!

Woah.
Oh. Well. That was really not funny. I love Matt and Trey but sometimes where they direct their vitriol is so...retarded. So someone made a bad movie. So what?
Oh, and would Matt come out already? Jesus.

I was so confused by the episode. I had just woken up from a nap... I was very out of it. The episode kind of upset me.

PS--did anyone catch the show that was on after? Sarah Silverman Program? Racism seems to be the theme of Thursday nights on Comedy Central, no?
(But I do love me some Sarah)
It upset you?
I think you need to get a little perspective parks. It's a cartoon.
Thank GOD, that I have this saved on my TIVO because I think this will go the way of the Closet episode.
Except the Closet episode was actually funny. :/
Don't get me wrong, I like offensive humour as much as - probably a helluva lot more than! - the next guy, but... that wasn't funny. o_O
I must be desensitized. I thought the whole episode was a little toothless when I saw it.
The clip is funnier in context. I cracked up when their "friend" was finally revealed. I thought it was going to be Cartman and explain his sudden passionate hatred of the Chinese.
Whoa-zie!
Wow - that really was pretty unfunny for South Park - they're usually at least a little subtle...
I have to admit, I thought it was funny in concept, but when I saw those clips...
I didn't laugh once. I'm glad they push the envelope on the show, but sometimes it just tears apart and they lose.
This time... They took the risk and they lost. That was too much.
I'm not sure the "insult" was to Spielberg or Lucas, though.
The reason I wasn't laughing? Rape just isn't funny, gosh darnit. I think this episode was insulting to actual rape victims everywhere.
I know they were spoofing the classic "rape" scenes on film... but rape really shouldn't be spoofed.
Ever.
It was meant to be a metaphorical rape of people's most favorite movie icons. Which is something Lucas or Spielberg just can't leave alone. They constantly try to OUT DO what they already made famous. Fans go in expecting to see what made their a continuation of their favorite movies but turn out to be something terrible & that are only created to make money.

Yeah, this episode was rather lackluster, especially given the two story arcs that never EVER intersected throughout the entire episode.
As for the Indiana Jones thing: I'm with Butters. I actually thought it was pretty good. The old ones were just as cheesy. So far, Temple of Doom is the only one I actually am unable to stomach.
I just found it ironic that they were saying that Spielberg and Lucas were "raping" their franchise by making a film o "lesser quality," while I found the entire episode to be nothing more than cheap, rehashed jokes.
