Fresh off the wires:
"LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A judge sentenced Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail Friday for violating her probation, putting the brakes on the hotel heiress' famous high life.
Hilton, who parlayed her name and relentless partying into worldwide notoriety, must go to jail on June 5 and she will be allowed no work release, no furloughs, no use of an alternative jail and no electronic monitoring in lieu of jail, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled after a hearing."
Go To Jail, Go Directly to Jail
What a skag...
Let's all point and laugh!
Incredible. Professional athletes are able to abuse spouses, animals and strike fans and they almost never serve a day in jail. Paris Hilton on the other hand parties hard and is thrown in the slammer?

I am sure her showing up 10 minutes late to the hearing did not do much to generate sympathy from the judge.
I would rather see her sentenced to some community service/road clean up task for hundreds of hours than have her wasting my tax dollars in jail.

I agree it's a ridiculous double-standard, however, if you read the whole article, it is very clear that she is a habitual offender and purposely flouted the law. And then lied about it.
"Hilton, 26, pleaded no contest in January to reckless driving stemming from a September 7 arrest in Hollywood. Police said she appeared intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. She had a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent, the level at which an adult driver is in violation of the law.
She was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.
Two other traffic stops and failure to enroll in a mandated alcohol education program, are what landed the socialite back in court.
On January 15, Hilton was pulled over by California Highway Patrol. Officers informed her that she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging that she was not to drive, according to papers filed in Superior Court.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies stopped Hilton on February 27 and charged her with violating her probation. Police said she was pulled over about 11 p.m. after authorities saw the car speeding with its headlights off.
Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said at the time Hilton wasn't aware her license was suspended. A copy of the document Hilton signed on January 15 was found in the car's glove compartment, court papers say.
Mintz had no comment Thursday.
Hilton was also required to enroll in an alcohol education program by February 12. As of April 17, she had not enrolled, prosecutors said."
There is a God.
For those 45 days Hollywood will cease to have an annoying "That's Hot" girl--- Oh wait, Nicole Richie.
Can we get a two for one deal?
Nicole may be following her for her drunk driving episode late last year. I believe she was driving the wrong way on the 101 Freeway, and may be sentenced to jail time.
parties hard? Drunk driving is parties hard? If she was jane citizen she'd get a hell of a lot longer than 45 days..
GOOD, put her in Jail.
Yeah, I hear ya Erika. Although, the Ron Artests and Stephen Jacksons of the world aren't exactly contrite about their actions.
I know it has to do with this judge and this situation and I don't think people should be given a free pass by any means - it's just annoying that the other people who think they are above the law get away with it more often than not.
My original response was only half serious, btw.
That last thing I want to be labeled as is a drunk driving supporter.

oh I know.....just don't think they are comparable....
Please let them throw away the key while they're at it.
Mom and Dad Hilton must be so proud of darling Paris.

Dottie, I'm so glad you said that, 'cause this was the most disturbing part of the artice, in my eyes:
As a city prosecutor said during closing arguments that Hilton deserved jail time, Hilton's mother, Kathy, laughed. When the judge ruled, Kathy Hilton then blurted out: "May I have your autograph?"
Nice. And we wonder why these spoiled brats are just that: spoiled brats.

Yeah apparently her mother was VERY rude. As Nancy Grace said: live by the sword, die by the sword. That could go the same for other people here as well.
work release
Did anyone else giggle when they read that?
Her mother is a skank.
Who ever suggested Nicole Richie joining her, how about Lindsey Lohan as well. Let's just round all these press seeking, useless skanks up.
I wonder if the next season of "The Simple Life" will contain footage of them making license plates.
She won't do that much time.
"Just because Paris Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in jail, it doesn't mean she'll do the time. Because of overcrowding and other issues, L.A. inmates often get sprung early. Former "Lost" star Michelle Rodriguez was sentenced to 60 days in the very same facility in which Paris is scheduled to do time for the very same offense -- probation violation over a DUI conviction. Rodriguez served a grand total of 2 hours before jail officials told her to get lost."
tmz
Aw Damn.
"she will be allowed no work release"
Paris doesn't work.
YAY! Give that judge a raise!
Hilton will probably manage to make a party out of jail.

Why was her mother so rude in court? Does she not "get" that her daughter broke the law repeatedly?

When I was first read it, I figured she was giggling in a "Haha, it's about time" way. And then I realized, sadly, nope.
This is so awesome! I giggled a little when I read "work release."
No offense but lets all remember all the **** michael jackson pulled during his trial..anyway i kind of feel bad for her. but at the same time there will totally be extra eyes if she serves time in jail...if anything were to ever happen to her it would not be good.
as to kathy hilton she probably has no clue what she was saying. sometimes people need to learn to shut their mouthes. she could have done worse by using her remarks.
