LOS ANGELES - Talk about bad timing. Paula Abdul broke her nose this weekend — just days before the season finale of “American Idol” — when she fell while trying to avoid stepping on her Chihuahua.
Abdul was recovering from the mishap and planned to appear on Tuesday and Wednesday night’s shows, her publicist, David Brokaw, said Monday. (Two “Idol” contestants remain — Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.)
“She’s a little sore, but is doing fine,” Brokaw said.
Abdul, 44, told syndicated entertainment TV show “Extra” that she tore cartilage in her nose and fractured a toe.
“I took a nasty fall ... trying not to hurt my dog. I bruised myself on my arm ... my chest, my waist all the way down to my hip. All from my little chubby Tulip,” she said.
The dog wasn’t hurt, Brokaw said.
This wasn’t Abdul’s first injury while judging the competition on the hit Fox network show.
She wore a sling in 2004 after surgery on her thumb, which was infected by a flesh-eating fungus following an unsanitary manicure at a Los Angeles nail salon. (She testified in California a year later, urging tougher safety standards for salons.)
“Being a professional dancer, I’m no stranger to pain, but this time the pain was so excruciating that even my hair touching my thumb caused me to scream,” Abdul has said of the yearlong ordeal.

So, she fell directly on her face?
Didn't she try and break her fall with her hands or arms?
I'm guessing she was loaded at the time and she's just blaming the dog.

Everyone knows that euphemism.

Who's to say if she was drunk or not?
I guess the notion is funny enough... until you think about William Holden, who was staggering around his place in a drunken stupor, fell and hit his head on the edge of a coffee table, and bled to death on the floor of his own home.
Then it ain't so funny, at least to me.

Well, Paula is alive. Not the same situation.
Did anyone watch her "Revealed" or maybe it was the "True Hollywood Story" on E!? She was totally out of it.

So her "alleged" condition is hilariously funny... unless she dies from it?
It's the same condition either way.
The only difference is the coffee table.

There seems to be a conspiracy among small dogs owned by celebrities.
A couple of weeks ago, Ellen Degeneres injured her back when she bent over to pick up her little dog. She had to do her talk show from a hospital bed (in her TV studio) for a week.

Am I the only one who read this and thought "avoiding her dog" was an euphemism for "had her nose done and/or some work done on her face, and is laying the foundation for being able to explain away the swelling?"
I don't watch Idol- so what'd she actually look like tonight?

Anakela, I love She-ra, I had to say it.
Yes, it was a total excuse to hide the fact she got a face makeover. Her face looked like the dog she avoided.
Seriously, why come up with such a silly excuse? Just say you had work done. She looks different.

Yeah, She-ra totally rocks- she has her own unicorn!
You know, at least "avoiding the dog" is a bit more original than "oh no, I haven't had any work done, it's just my new haircut/haircolor that makes my face look different." Only Drunky Abdul could've come up with "avoiding the dog.":)
