Posted: 5/26/06 at 11:27amIs there any particular reason why you can't just tell them to shut their trap and mind their own damn business? You've tried being subtle, you've tried the niceties. Just be a bitch about it. If you're constantly a dillhole whenever they say/do something intrusive, I imagine they'd finally figure out something else to do.

Well, I was being vague because I just didn't feel like spilling too many beans, but it's a coworker. She fits the template of the person I'm nice to once and instantly find annoying in every single way and spend the rest of my existance trying to rid myself of their presence. So I was nice to her at job orientation and found ouit she'd be working with me. And she hasn't left me alone since. And she also feels the need to "be frank" too often and it's annoying, rude, and nosy.
So I can't really tell her to f off since I have to sit here with her, but how can I sort of get the idea into her head that I don't want to be friends? Bear in mind that I have quite the litter trail of telling people very bluntly that I do not want to be friends with them and they don't accept it.

Actually, SOMMS, that'd only make her talk to me more. There's already a guy next to her who spends the day belching and I get to hear about EVERY.SINGLE.BELCH.
I mean, I would think the fact that I keep my headphones on ALL the time and pretend not to hear her might get the clue in without having to be directly mean.

Tell her, "Thank you, No. I really have to work. That's what we're all here for."

HEHE! That's how I get rid of her currently, CK, but she comes right back with a comment that succeeds in both pissing me off and painting her as a victim and then wants to go to lunch.

Posted: 5/26/06 at 11:57amWell I've lucked out in my office arrangement. It's just me my desk, and my plants. They hardly ever bother me. I fear if I had a coworker in here, I'd be the annoying one. I do love to talk so.

Posted: 5/26/06 at 12:27pmBack from my errands. Bway, it sounds like you're an awfully nice guy. I don't seem to have a bit of trouble in letting someone know I'm not into being friendly and most people I know are good at it too. Can you ignore the friendly talk and just be interested when she's talking business? Can you add a little chill to the air, so to speak?

Sweet lord, Rath, this isn't about how much I hate YOU right now, it's about how much I hate this person.
Jane, I've really tried. Apparently, the problem lies in the initial first impression I gave her because subsequent attempts at being brusque usually get a "you were awful pissy earlier" comment later. I respond, "Well, of course I was" and give reasons why, but it's kind of like with a dog: once they pick a treat off the kitchen table, they'll spend the rest of their life at that table even if they never get another treat from it.

Rath, he says it's noone here, but I have my suspicions...I think he is trying to be *shh* subliminal......
IT IS ME!

I'm the master at making co-workers think I'm an ass. Not by choice, mind you! I am quite transparent, and if I don't like it, it's VERY clear I don't like you. I'm not rude or anything, but I just keep my conversations to business, and don't share anything else. When they ask what I'm up to, I just say 'stuff' or 'busy weekend', and then turn around and tell the co-worker I actually like EVERYTHING about my weekend.
