"But Perez tells me that, in the heat of the moment that night, he almost chose to use a different word. "I thought about calling him the n word," he says over the phone a week after the incident, "but I thought the f word was even worse. I was so filled with hate at that moment because I was hated on so much, and I reacted in the worst way possible. Then I went on to make a bunch of other mistakes. I shouldn't have made the video. I shouldn't have released so many statements. But what's come out of all of this is that I've learned so much about myself, and I'm in a much better place. I'm actually thankful that it happened. As cheesy as it may sound, I had almost a spiritual moment when I just let all of the anger and worry go and am now filled with peace, happiness, and wisdom."

Posted: 7/6/09 at 7:57pmHe used the F word. The "worst" word he knows. The reason he feels this way is possibly because he has been subjected to that hate in his own life (which I don't doubt, haven't we all). During this confrontation, he felt he was in a place that he needed to use the most hurtful word he knew and drew it from his own experiences - in an effort to take back the situation. When you are thrust into a situation and you don't know how to get out, you resort to the same behavior that you yourself have been subjected to. I don't understand how people can't understand this. I'm sure many of you will disagree.

I'm not sure I disagree entirely, Tag, but surely you're not condoning his behavior? As you yourself said, who among us has not been subjected to hate at some point? The rest of us manage to rise above that without resorting to childish name-calling. He could have left before he did that. He incites hate with his speech every day he posts.
Nobody "thrust" him into this situation. He put himself there, and I don't think he has ever really been on the receiving end of hurt before, not after watching his video. His was the reaction of someone unbelieving that something like that could ever happen to him. A bully who finally got punched. I despise him and everything he "stands" for - but I kinda hope he'll get help.
The only way I'll believe he's seen the light, though, is if he gives up his stupid blog.
And I don't see that happening.

Posted: 7/6/09 at 9:56pmEvery 4th of July (well the past 2) he posts a shirtless video of his progression in loosing weight/getting fit.

Posted: 7/6/09 at 10:03pmSo did he loose any?
#10re: Perez Hilton is vile.
Posted: 7/6/09 at 10:07pmA notable amount. But considering it has been over 2 years, not as much as he could/should have.

I think Perez is great. Make all the queers whine and get all hot and bothered. LIKE IT MATTERS.
This is what you focus on, and Michael Jackson, instead of North Korea threatening to attack us?

I seem to have missed any thread you started about North Korea.

I've been looking for a reason to stop reading his site, and the f*ggot incident was exactly what I needed. If you really need that gossip fix (which I do), there are dozens of other, better sites.
I admire that he wants to become healthier, but he's been talking about it for years, and a. he backed out of his "vow" to jog shirtless last July 4th, and I can't see any difference between this year's video and last year's, weight loss-wise.
He may have been subjected to plenty, but the idea that calling anyone else a fag might be acceptable, especially considering his self-chosen role as a gay activist, is absolutely inconceivable to me. I agree that he's probably been called a fag quite often, but if you think you can represent the gay community in any way by perpetuating the gay panic response to someone being called a fag, you're just wrong.

Posted: 7/7/09 at 10:58amAnd what does it say about The Advocate that HE'S their cover boy this issue? It's a shame a magazine that only features actual gay people on the cover once a year would waste this annual shot on Perez.

Posted: 7/7/09 at 11:27amDid he really say it because he thought it was the worst thing he could possibly say or did he say it because he actually thinks Will.i.am is gay? After seeing him on The View, I think it may be the latter. Rumors are flying that Will is on the dl. That doesn't make it right on any level, but Perez does have a reputation for outing people.
