Hey, I saw that production of Hair! It was excellent! My mom won't let me audition for LaGuardia though. What grade are you in? I know a few kids who are going to be Juniors this year.

I'm pretty sure I am. I really wish I could audition, but alas, the mom has said no. I"m going into ninth grade, so maybe I'll convince her to let me audition this year. I hope.

If performing is what you want to do for the rest of your life, I strongly advise you to audition. Even if it's not, you should audition. It's a great school with (mostly) good teachers and the nicest students around. If the reason your mom won't let you audition is the "danger" and the "student body", tell her not to worry. It's not as bohemian as you would think, and in three years I have NEVER witnessed a fight. If a long commute is the problem, you get used to it. I travel over an hour and a half to get to school every day, and it feels like nothing.

IT's not the commute, It's literally 2 blocks away from my house. It's just that I go to a REALLY academic all-girls school that has a big reputation, and she doesn't want me giving up that quality of academic education.

The academics at LaG are actually quite challenging. Since you would be going in as a Sophomore anyway, you could take all Honors courses, and even AP courses, if applicable. The only AP course I don't reccomend taking is APUSH, because it's mostly
busywork and difficult to actually learn something. Otherwise, the academics are excellent AND well-regarded, and the classes can even be inspiring.

Actually, neither did my mom, until we actually spoke to some kids from the school. I was in a similar situation to yours, because I had gotten into Stuyvesant, which is one of the top, and most difficult-to-get-into, schools in the country. My mom was really pulling for me to go to Stuy, but I knew that I would be miserable there, and that I wouldn't get much training in the arts. I decided to LaG because it was, and still is, my dream to become a Broadway singer. LaG has nurtured both my academic and vocal talents, and I feel that choosing it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Regarding the LVA pictures...

We have 2 theatres. Both completely equipped with professional equipment. Our new theatre cost 16 billion dollars to build. And our old one was just rennovated.

Our tech majors are incredible.

1. All us whores from Les Mis. I'm in the back and you can only see my head. But I look really depressed for some reason.

2. Some of our factory girls. We're all singing so we look kinda creepy. I'm the one with brown curly hair lying across the girl's lap.

hey... to answer some of the questions... drama has already answered most of them, but i wanted to say that we get the same amount of money as any other school in Las Vegas.

We go to a Magnet school, so the shows are a part of our major, which is apart of the school. The way we get those sets is through our tech majors... they really are incredible. We also do Equity Fights Aides donations, as well as raising money through millions of other random things. We also have hookups from shows like O on the Las Vegas Strip, thanks to our tech director.

Basically, its luck. :-P Everyone elses pictures are great!!! Songs for a New World looks like such a fun show... and I loved the Hairspray photo too!

We did Caucasian Chalk Circle too! Although I was in like 6th grade when my HS did it. Yay Brecht. As boring as Our Town is to read, I'd love to be in it.
