Places to get piercings in the city?

I'm looking for suggestions of places in the city to get my ears pierced. Sanitary and not skeezy are preferred. I have no idea what's out there, especially considering the last time I got them pierced I was 9 months old and at my pediatricians. Also - what's the general price range? Thanks!

Hi sweets. :p
Well, what you call 'skeezy' I may call 'colorful', lol, but you may want to check out a place in St. Marks Place called Andromeda, I was really happy with them. It's down the strip and like, right across the street from a Japanese restaurant called Kenka, you can't miss it.
I got a tattoo done there a couple years ago and my best friend got a bellybutton and a Monroe piercing there about a year ago. The joint's really clean (it even smells like a hospital) and the guys there are no nonsense and professional and impeccably sanitary. The only thing that annoyed me were the gawkers since it's St. Marks, and their services are a little pricey so I'm sure their ear piercing rates are too.
Man, I miss New York.
Anyway, happy piercing!

if youre just doing your ears, i know a lot of people who use claires... you know the girly chain store? its just the price of the earrings. i dont know anyone whose had complaints but ive never personally used them.
you could confuse your regular doctor and ask them to do it but they might not get the spacing right.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 1:52amI don't live in NYC, so I don't know about piercing places there. But as for the price range where I live, lobes are about $20. Cartilage is more expensive, ranging from $30-$60.

I was going to say Claire's but I don't think I've ever seen a Claire's in Ny. They'll be the cheapest and non-skeeziest and they usually give you free earrings afterwards, right? At least they did when I was a kid. Times have changed though.
I do like Andromeda's a lot, the whole experience is fun. They charge just about double of any other tattoo parlour in the world though, I remember being pretty shocked at the triple digits.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 2:38amHow did I miss all that florescent pink? I guess I need to pay better attention to my surroundings. And this talk of Claire's is making me want to go and buy lots and lots of scrunchies, friendship bracelets, and leopard print headbands.

Emcee - Cartilidge didn't hurt at all actually. It hurt less and stayed sore less time than my belly button. The only thing I had was the back of the post pinching my head when I laid down, lol! I had it in for about 2 years and took it out. Hole closed perfectly, you'd never know I had it.
No matter where you go, make sure the dots are actually even when they show them to you (before they pierce). I didn't do that with my second holes and they came out a bit crooked.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 6:06pmWhatever Tattoo and Piercings down on St. Marks. I got one of my tattoos done there and they were very good, very clean and very reasonable. They pierce as well, and I happened to watch someone get pierced while I was waiting for my tattoo artist to get ready. It's definitely a good place to check out. I believe there are several throughout the city, but I think the one on St. Marks is their flagship.

Posted: 2/20/07 at 6:38pmI went to Andromeda for both my tattoo & eyebrow piercing and I'd definitely recommend them. (I think Cassiopeia is their sister store.) They were clean and friendly and really know what they're doing.
