I'm hoping you all can help me. I am a teacher in Washington Heights and have been asked to put on a play at my middle school. I've never done this before (I teach English, not drama) and need to find a play that I will be able to successfully stage at the end of this school year; we will begin after-school drama twice a week in February. There is no drama program at my school and I won't have many resources to work with. I'm not sure how many kids I'll get. Can anyone recommend any good, easy plays appropriate for middle-schoolers (grades 6-? I'd like something humorous, and I think between 20 minutes and an hour is a suitable length. My one thought right now is Stephen Gregg's "This is a Test," but I'd like some other options. Please let me know if you have any ideas!
Maybe something like Paul Sill's "Story Theatre"? It's probably longer than an hour but you would not have to all of the pieces.
go to playscripts.com
they have LOTS of middle school plays and you can read half of the play online, so you can get a good sense of the play
alot of great options for middle schoolers especially
Thank you both for the advice. I had seen playscripts.com but didn't really explore it much because it seemed overwhelming (there are SO many shows on there!), but I just went back and found some very good possibilities. :)
I'm not familiar with "Story Theatre," but I will definitely check it out now.

I saw a production of "This Is A Test" and I really enjoyed it. The kids involved loved being in it as well. It's funny and not too hard to put on.
Oh, good! The fact that it seems easy to put on is the biggest draw for me. If I have the right number of kids, that's definitely my first choice right now.
