It seems we've sat and typed like this before....

All we need is for Marquise to appear out of nowhere and say, "Ugh. Every time I come back it's always the same."

Hey--don't be hating on Marquise!

Sock puppets are okay when they're HOT, right?

I'm not hating on him. I loved me some Marquise, but that's what he does now. I think it's silly to come back to the board just to pass judgement. I don't get how people think that makes them superior.

It's like when people say "Well, this is the reason I don't post so much anymore" and you click their posting history and they're still posting at least a few times every day.

And for the record, I usually enjoy sock puppets that have a little panache to them, whether it's a clever character or just someone who is totally batsh*t. It's the "I'm just new and have been lurking all these years so that's why I have such a deep understand of the politics and pathology of the board and why I've only posted twice but now I'm going to tell you off" that drives me crazy. That and the "I'm new! Look at me!" stuff. Sh*t, even if you're not a sock puppet you deserve to be accused of one when you start a welcome me thread.

Oh, and if you start a thread when you become a Broadway Legend you deserve to be called a sock puppet, too.

Thanks supportivemom/Ida Noodleman.

What's funny about these forums is that [personality wise] they seem to reflect many of the personalities one would find in a real life gathering of artists, not just online banter.

Ida Noodlekugel said "Maybe it's just that I personally view a message board as a fun diversion and not a major part of my daily life."

That "major part of my daily life" meme is one of Anthony's favorite recurring themes.

Oh...I don't know. I think some folks round here got their asses chaffed after the death of Brendan Stryker/Brandon Tina whatever. I think some folks got a little too invested in the shirtless hottie with a penchant for Julie Andrews (REALLY? REALLY????) and when the SH*T went down and shiva was sat, people got all kinds of anxious about it.

Is there a rule that states that you can't post on this board right when you join? Or, that you have to wait a certain amount of time? Why would that be? That makes no sense. That's the entire point of joining the board........to post and ask questions.

If you're a new member, or a person who's belonged for a few years, that makes no difference for a love of theatre.

A lot of message boards have very strict regulations about what new members can and cannot do. Everything from not being able to start your own threads right away to only allowing registrations at certain times of the year. You can't call something a community and then not expect that community to devise its own standards.

Is there a rule on this board that you can't post when you're a new member?

Nope. Is there a rule about wondering whether or not someone is a sock puppet?

Thanks nealb1.

Phyllis, yes there are rules on other communities, but as far as I can tell, not on this community.

I think that your issue would be better taken up with the moderator and not with new posters.

Yeah, I didn't think that was a rule about that. I suppose some boards do have strict rules and such.

Was always curious as to why other posters on this board would be so catty and cruel to new members? That's just odd to me.

Thanks

this board does have a rule (however unenforced it may be) about having multiple accounts.
