Several news sites are reporting that a few anti-gay marriage NY Dems are working with NY republicans to turn over control to republicans in exchange for getting marriage equality off the table.
Shenanigans
geez, those democrats would rather serve under the gop than let pj make it legit?
I know Dems can't bitch about party switching after Spector, but I am very sickened by why they seemed to have switched--the gay marriage issue. Bunch of f*cking homophobic bastards.
I do not understand how an alleged majority of senators who want this issue brought to a vote can't override the majority leader.
I'm just sickened. I'm getting married next summer and it makes me want to say FU to NY and do it elsewhere--give my effing money to a state that believes in my equality.
Diaz is an odious man--corrupt and hateful, with nary a redeeming quality--to whom we should be devoting all possible energy to ensure he does not survive his next primary.

The "alleged majority," apparently, never existed.
Gay marriage in New York is DOA.
I saw this on the news. Pathetic.
The two legislators who have become Republicans are nothing but scum.
One was indicted last month for slashing his girlfriend with a broken drinking glass, the other is under investigation by the Bronx DA for a number of offenses.

"One was indicted (...) the other is under investigation (...)"
Can there be any doubt that part of the party-switch deal was that the indictment be dropped and the investigation stopped.
It took less than six months for the Dems to sell us all out. Don't anyone pretend to be surprised.
Is it any wonder why they are known as the most dysfunctional legislature in the US?
These guys are clowns that Ringling Brothers would be proud of.
Do you support marriage equality, Roxy?
Don't think I've ever seen you post about it, and I'm curious.
I am ashamed of them. I really don't understand. I hope when election time comes the people will speak! It is a grey day in New York. I contacted Senator Onorato who sent me a generic response saying he was against Gay Marriage but had helped in other causes. I wrote another letter saying he does not represent me or others in the community and that my getting married or being gay has brought no turmoil upon my parents marriage over 30 years and my grandparents 50 some years.
I do hope there is a silver lining somewhere.

Oh PJ, does it really matter what roxy thinks? he doesn't vote so his opinion is useless.
Read it and puke. Not only is gay marriage dead in New York State, the rule of law is dead in New York State.
COUP IN ALBANY: GOP Takes Over NY State Senate
Though I can't find the link right now, last night I read somewhere that the Republicans and the 2 Dems also voted to change the rules that govern the NY Senate. I couldn't find any details about the rule changes, but I would guess that much more can be done with a simple majority.
hiram's gonna rue the day he switched over. coverage of his little face slashing issue has been pretty much non-existent after the initial splash, but he can expect all that to change now. welcome to the gop, pal.

The sad thing about GOP leader Skelos is that he panders to the right to keep that stupid Conservative Party endorsement which he does not need to win his own seat.
I don't know anything he is "for". Only what he is against which seems to be a lot.
I predict the Democrats re-take the Senate next election and we get gay marriage in NY State then.
We live to fight another day...
Surprise--Skelos wants to put it to a vote.
Skelos: NY Senate Will Vote On Marriage
Wow. Do you think it cuz he thinks it will be defeated--or because the 32 votes are there.
Wouldn't it be wild if we get marriage equality after all?
It would be wild, but I'm thinking he's only doing it to defeat it.
But the opera ain't over...
Well, at least it would give us verification of who we need to support...and who we need to focus on ousting.
(glad my senator, Eric Schneiderman, is one of the good guys)
I really hope gay marriage gets passed in New York. I think as soon as it does, NJ will follow. Heck it might even be debated in the PA legislation this year. I think both states are waiting to see what happens in NY
Hey Zone
Before opening your mouth, get your facts straight. I voted in the last election & plan to vote against Mayor Mike this fall.
It is not the first time you have played fast & loose with the truth. Don't stand too long while the egg drips into your shoes
Have a nice night.
