It would seem likely that had Saddam remained in power there would have been far fewer lives lost in Iraq; and now, when there are far more concerning threats in that region, the West is in a much weaker position to address them.
I also find it ironic that those rushing to defend their head-of-state from perceived international disrespect are ignoring the disrespect accorded to my own head-of-state in a thread not far removed from this one. More double standards perhaps? Not that I personally have a problem with any of the disrespect shown to my own national leaders or any other - it is all part of what those who hold public office (elected or otherwise) should reasonably expect. If people (whether British, American or other) want to crack fart jokes about HMQ and express masturbatory fantasies about her grandsons they are exercising their right to do so. And if any head of state doesn't like what they get, they should think more carefully about the consequences of their decisions made in office.
