Pretty places to go in NYC?

Posted: 6/21/11 at 2:34pmI am currently doing a stint down in Tribecca and they just opened a pier behind the CitiCorp building on Greenwich that is pretty cool. You can go out and look at the Statue of Liberty and watch the boats on the river. It has a skate park (tucked away), miniature golf, a mini water and rock climbing park, a "beach" with sand and a lawn for soccer. Lots of benches and trees. I have spent most of my lunches there in the past week just lookign out over the river.

You should also check out the East Side of Central Park between 105th and 110th streets. There are some nice gardens and the Harlem Meer is very pretty and enjoyable to walk around.

I agree with all of these, especially The Cloisters and The Frick, but here's one that's a little harder to get to but well worth it:
Wave Hill, on the former Arturo Toscanini estate in the Fieldston section of The Bronx:

It was built in 1843 and Teddy Roosevelt and Mark Twain lived there before Toscanini. It's now a 28-acre public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades.
It's magnificent in the fall:

PJ, thank you for sharing that. I so want to go to there.
I visited the Frick today. I guess I wasn't in the right mood or something since I found it a bit too small, and the collection a bit dry...maybe try again when a relative visits.
However, I couldn't take my eyes off those Houdon sculptures. Those were unbelievable.
