Nah, us Yanquis just see twenty as a step toward turning 21 which is the Holy Grail of birthdays in the US of A.
We don't usually get angsty until 25.

Posted: 4/17/05 at 12:37pmI am going to turn 23 in October and I am freaking out...all of my friends are talking marriage and I'm worried about dating still...so it's alittle depressing..so i understand :/

Posted: 4/17/05 at 12:40pmHehe. I guess the only really weird thing I have going on as I approach 30 is trying to figure out what to do with my life. Maybe by 40...
#8re: QUARTER LIFE CRISIS!
Posted: 4/17/05 at 1:01pmI did, JID! I think it's weird that I'm officially an adult, yet I don't feel like one at all. And the fact that one of my friends is engaged (and he's only six months older than me)...it's a little scary. To say the least.

Posted: 4/17/05 at 1:09pm20 was nothing! 3o was a crisis. 40 was a breeze. I hit 42 the day after Hitchhiker's Guide comes out, seems quite appropriate!

Posted: 4/17/05 at 1:22pmYup, I turned 20 a couple of days ago. It definitely feels weird not to be a teenager anymore! It's kinda nice. Although I do feel a bit old.

Definitely. Now that I'm not a teenager there's really no excuse for the way I behave.

Happy Birthday, Judy!
I'm not so crazy about being 20. It seems like an in-between year to me. You're not a teenager anymore, but you can't even legally drink (wait, are you in Canada? Never mind that for you, then).
I was at my cousin's wedding this weekend and my great-aunt said to me, "You're next in line! Pretty soon we'll all be gathering at your wedding!" and it freaked me out because I'm not ready to grow up yet! I have friends who are engaged too, and it's too much for me to think about right now.
#15re: QUARTER LIFE CRISIS!
Posted: 4/17/05 at 4:34pmI'm 26 and have yet to freak out, but when I was little I always thought of 27 as old, the age when I would certainly have my life together and know what I was doing, so there may be some freaking out come November.
#16re: QUARTER LIFE CRISIS!
Posted: 4/17/05 at 4:51pmOh, 20 TOTALLY freaked me out. I'm still 20, turned 20 in November, and I have yet to get over it. I think it won't wear off until 21, when everybody expects you to be nothing but a drunk jack@ss because you're finally legal. But, yeah, 20 is pretty frightening.

#22re: QUARTER LIFE CRISIS!
Posted: 4/18/05 at 12:25amI'll be 20 in June - I'm not freaking about my age, just my life....
#23re: QUARTER LIFE CRISIS!
Posted: 4/18/05 at 12:27amI'll be 19 on Tuesday. People are like "get ready, it's your last year as a teenager!" Some days, that's disappointing and scary. Others, it's really encouraging, but more often than not, it's the former.

I start singing "Why Georgia" every time I open this thread:
I am driving up 85 in the
Kind of morning that lasts all afternoon
Just stuck inside the gloom
4 more exits to my apartment but
I am tempted to keep the car in drive
And leave it all behind
'Cause I wonder sometimes
About the income
Of a still verdictless life
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Why, Georgia, why?
I rent a room and I fill the spaces with
Wood in places to make it feel like home
But all I feel's alone
It might be a quarter life crisis
Or just the stirring in my soul
Either way I wonder sometimes
About the outcome
Of a still verdictless life
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Why, Georgia, why?
So what, so I've got a smile on
But it's hiding the quiet superstitions in my head
Don't believe me
Don't believe me when I say I've got it down
Everybody is just a stranger but
That's the danger in going my own way
I guess it's the price I have to pay
Still, "everything happens for a reason"
Is no reason not to ask myself
If I am living it right
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Why, Georgia, why?
