well, Bammy might draw blood. Who is the moderator? Will he/she be in the tank the way Gwen Ifill was? I mean tried to give the debate to Joe.

"The only debate that really matters is the last one."
I completely disagree. Early voting has already started in most states, so many people will have cast their vote before the last debate. Also, the polling firm Rasmussen Reports has indicated that folks are already becoming firm in their decision. According to Rassmussen, 45% of all voters are firmly committed to Obama, with 38% firmly committed to McCain. Each have an additional 6% who would vote for them if the election were held today, but feel their opinion could still be swayed.
As for the remaining debates, I don't expect any sort of knockout to be delivered by Obama, because I don't think he'll be throwing those sorts of punches. With the current dynamics of the campaign, McCain needs a 'game changer', and Obama could give that to him if he tried to land a big punch in a debate and missed badly.

Obama's advantage is to call out McCain on his record of recklessly partisan voting and irresponsible actions, not to mention questioning the motives behind his choice of VP candidate, and how said choice only highlights his slavish devotion to said partisanship.

Dunno if SNL pretapes skits other than shorts and commercials, Luscious. Hm. Maybe Tina Fey is too good at playing the role. She is funny, but also can make you shudder in fear at the same time.

The vast majority of voters vote on election day. And although many people have already made up their mind as to who they're going to vote for, if either McCain or Obama screw up big time in the last debate, that's the one that's going to matter; and vice-versa if either candidate does exceedly well.

I liked the show alot. I found it really funny! My favorite non politcal momment was weekend update. But even update always has political jokes in it!!
But the political sketches always have to come first!!
P.S. Her Mary Poppins is amazing. http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/mary-poppins/727503/

I was just thinking that if Palin is pro-life at any cost- would she be able to push the "nukular" bottom that would kill so many innocent people? Anyway, I plan on early voting as soon as the sites open. So basically, the debates will not change my mind at all!
p.s. if this exaggerated skit somehow "proved" that Ifill was biased- it also "proved" that Palin was not good in this debate and that she came across as style with no substance.

Posted: 10/5/08 at 11:41amLuscious, the SNL V.P. debate was done live. All their cold openings are. Very rarely are sketches pretaped except for the commercials and perhaps some transitional shots.

Posted: 10/5/08 at 11:44amYeah- and Tina Fey was on at the end of the show- this is actually the first time in a long time that I was able to stay up til the end because this show caught my interest throughout. I would love to see Anne in a musical. She sounded so much like Julie Andrews in that Poppins skit- I guess all that exposure to her in the Princess Diaries rubbed off! Like I said, Anne did a great job!

I can only think of 2 incidents where stuff are pre-taped off the top of my head.
1. When Eddie Murphy was gonna quit the hsow after 10 episodes, they made him a deal that he pretapes 15 sketches to show for the rest of that season. They aired them throught the season so it wasn't like "BANG!!! He's gone" and so people didn't stop watching after that season!
2, When Dana Carvey had to play both Perot and Bush in the cold opening. He pretaped Perot and David Spade stood as his stand-in while Carvey played George Bush.
Those are the only 2 I can think of being pretaped.

Posted: 10/5/08 at 12:06pmThe Fey/Palin skits have offically jumped the shark. Last night's skit fell flat and I only laughed because of Fey's delivery of the lines and because Queen Latifah is hi-freaking-larious. I don't know...just didn't enjoy it. And for the record, Kristen Wiig is the funniest woman on that show since Sheri O'Teri.

The moderator for this week's debate is Tom Brokaw.
The format is "Town Hall" - no podiums, the two candidates roaming freely and questions asked by the audience.
The audience members who get to ask questions are carefully chosen to be "uncommitted".
