R.I.P. Andy Whitfield

These situations are always deeply sad, but when it comes so suddenly to one so young it really strikes a nerve.


On a side note, after he fell ill Starz decided to do the prequel mini-series in hopes he would recover for a proper second season.
The prequel featured a gay subplot which was actually an idea Andy suggested for season 2.

This is terrible news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I own "Spartacus Blood and Sand" on DVD and thought Whitfield was outstanding in the lead role. RIP.

Not that all cancers aren't awful, but non-Hodgkin's lymphoma has a special little corner full of hate in my heart. If I remember correctly, I read something a few weeks ago that said Andy was on an upswing and feeling better and looking great. Yesterday, I heard he died. And it just brought back memories of what happened to my aunt. She, too had NHL and seemed to be getting better. Then suddenly, she was in Sloan-Kettering and dead three months later. Awful, awful disease. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

As childhood cancers go- NHL is supposed to be a "good" one with a 95% cure rate. Unfortunately , my beloved nephew Adam was in that other 5%.Only nine years and 10 months old. His memeory is ever a blessing to me as am sure Andy's will be to his family.

^ Me too. I was hoping he'd beat the odds and surprise us all. Such a shame.
