Thanks for posting this. I'm excited about the movie but I'm not sure I get too much of what the story is about from the trailer. I wonder if Kate Winslet will submit this role or her role in THE READER for Oscar consideration.
I read an article saying that the film isn't really ready, I believe they are re-shooting some scenes at the moment.

Posted: 12/25/08 at 7:36pmAs one of those "crazy" Titanic fans a decade ago, I have to say I'm very excited for this movie. I've followed both Leo and Kate's careers since then, and I've really enjoyed alot of their work. I'm looking forward to seeing them together again. I'm sure they will be even better with such interesting material.

Posted: 12/26/08 at 11:47amI'm glad to hear you liked it misschung. There was another thread about the movie a while ago saying how bad it was. Revolutionary Road is one of my favorite books and I am really looking forward to seeing the movie.

Posted: 12/26/08 at 2:26pmI created the other thread, and I didn't say how bad it was -- just how bleak. But I watchd it a 2nd time, and have even more respect for the film. It's a major piece of work, very ambitious in every sense. If imperfect, it still demands attention I believe.

Both of them have definitely grown as actors, so for me I think it will be easier to sit through. But it is kind of funny seeing Leo yell as if he was a father... he stil sounds like a kid. Regardless, I can't wait!
And did I see a hand on the car window while making out? Familiar image... haha

I think that they were great actors before Titanic - R&J and Sense and Sensibility are two of my favorite before Titanic films for them. And I think in part, Titanic was such a hit because as action packed as it was, they both worked to make their characters more than one dimensional romantic leads. From the clips I've seen, though, you can't help but think a little about that epic movie. Even the rhythm of their dialogue seems similar.
However, I agree that they have grown over the years. I have to say, I'm honestly just excited to see Leo in a non-Scorsese movie. As for Kate, I believe she is SUCH a talent, and I love most of her movies. I can't wait to see The Reader, too - that looks amazing as well.
I do think it is funny that everyone is talking about how the audience is going to be shocked and disappointed with their story. I think that is under estimating the audience.

Zepka, I thought the same exact thing. But Kate's not in the car with Leo, it's someone else. Still, there were times during the film when I had a bit of deja vu, though they were few and far between.
I'm sorry to say that I disagree with reviewers who claim this is their best performance. I think both their performances merit respect in their own right, but I'm not yet sold on this as their best work. That being said, there are moments in the film that rendered me speechless. I don't want to say too much before people have seen it, but...yeah.
I'm sort of reluctant to see it again, just because I find it such a heartbreaking story. After I saw it earlier in the month, I felt like I couldn't speak when it was over. Then after a day or so I started to cry, heh.
