My problem is with the whole Reichen as manufactured "gay personality" phenomenon and the idiots like HRC giving him fricking awards. That's my issue. And it would have been my issue whether or not there was the hilarious added bonus of Crazy Old Cousin Rathy's Greatest Claim to Fame. Fact is, I was poking holes in the whole "Oh it's Reichen, he's so fabulous, the media tells us he is, so he is, RIGHT?" scenario before I even knew about Jethreen. Sorry, I meant Rath.
While reading the Status Ain't Hood article about Rock Star Supernova in the Voice, I came upon a bit that sums up the whole phenomenon nicely:
The people who compete on these shows talk about seizing their moments and making all of their dreams come true, but they're more famous as contestants on these shows than they'll ever be when their season finishes its run, whether they win or not. And still, thousands upon thousands of people audition to become contestants on every ridiculous reality show. It never ends.
And one phoney queen gets awards for it.
