Sounds socialist to me.

The GOP budget plan is a complete, all-out assault on the middle and lower classes. They've sold the public on the evils of taxes, and folks seem willing to turn a blind eye to the details of their plans. It's stunning how people can consistently vote against their own interests.

That's really disgusting. I hate it that they want to cut all arts funding. This sucks.

"Robert Lynch, president of Americans for the Arts,... told the LA Times that federal investment in the arts helps to sustain 5.7 million jobs nationwide."

For a party so concerned with the unemployed leeching benefits, I don't know why they're so eager to add another 5.7 million people into the system.

Being concerned with the unemployed is nothing more than lip service. The Republicans who so many people seem to think are doing the best for them ONLY care about the richest people in the country. THEY DO NOT CARE about the middle and lower classes. It amazes me that given they've shown this over and over and over again, so many people just don't see it and continue to vote them into power.

How about cutting defense spending? Cutting the armed services budget a bit?

Cuts needs to be made across the board to everything.

Watch the State of the Union address tomorrow and watch how Obama will announce huge spending all over the place. Obama is determined to bankrupt this country.

"Obama is determined to bankrupt this country"

Yup! That's his plan! Guess the cats out of the bag now.Damn you Fox News. Obama is also a Muslim and was not born here either. I never know how to react when someone says CRAZY stuff like"Obama is a Marxist" or "Obama wants to bankrupt the country". My first reaction is to laugh hysterically. Then I realize there are people out there who actually believe this crap.

Don't take our word for it. Watch the SOTU tomorrow and see for yourself. If he says anything about more spending, that should be a red flag. The US is already too much in debt, we can't afford to spend anymore. Keep a score card tomorrow night and see what his plans are for cutting the debt not increasing it.

Goth,
Do you honestly believe our deficit can be solved by spending cuts? Or are you at least willing to admit that some form(s) of tax increases are needed? Or do you buy the GOP/Tea Party line that we are already overtaxed?

madbrian, the US is in serious financial trouble. When the US has maxed out all their credit cards (figure of speech) they shouldn't be spending. That's basic Econ 101.

The problem is that Obama put US finances into ridiculous programs like Cash for Clunkers and other programs that didn't help the economy. Additionally, we have no idea how much debt Obamacare is going to add.

To sum it up, you can't spend all your money on bubblegum and then ask for more money to buy groceries with.

Cash for Clunkers was a hugely successful program that re-energized the American automobile industry and got a whole lot of people to buy more energy efficient cars.

I'm not sure how that's "ridiculous."

Don't believe me, ask your lying eyes.

GM sold more cars in China than they did in the US. Tell me how great that CFC program was?

I guess Goth didn't read these bits from the article he linked:

Sales in the U.S., including heavy-duty vehicles, rose 6.3 percent as GM continued to rebound from its 2009 stay in bankruptcy protection.

GM expects its sales growth to continue, and industry analysts say it may once again dethrone Toyota as the global sales leader this year. GM will announce Monday that it's adding a third shift to a pickup truck assembly plant in Flint, Mich., to meet an expected increase in demand as the U.S. economic recovery continues.

Pickup truck sales in the U.S. were up 16 percent last year to 1.6 million vehicles, and they're still among the top-selling vehicles in the country. GM says small businesses are beginning to buy pickups again after staying out of the market for nearly two years.

The company will bring back 650 laid-off workers to staff the Flint plant, which has been operating on two shifts per day, according to a person briefed on a scheduled announcement. The last time the plant worked around the clock was in the second quarter of 2008.

Pickup truck sales rose 16 percent in the U.S. last year, and GM expects sales to continue to go up.

^^^ I read the article, but more importantly I understood it.

"Sales in the U.S., including heavy-duty vehicles, rose"

CFC was designed to get people buying energy-efficient vehicles. Pickups and heavy-duty don't fall into that category.

"The last time the plant worked around the clock was in the second quarter of 2008."

The good old days when a Republican was in charge was the last time the company was working at full potential.

So when your point of "GM sold more cars in China than they did in the US. Tell me how great that CFC program was?" didn't work, you just change it. How...handy.

Or maybe you just choose to remain willfully ignorant.

CFC didn't work because, as GM reports, people didn't buy energy efficient vehicles, and China, our debt lord and master, is buying more than we are. I guess Obama's work here is almost completed as we become the United States of China.
