How do I love this film? Let me count the ways. Anyone else here love this creepy, disturbing, emotionally draining, completely fantastic film?
Brilliant with one of the greatest performances on film--Ms. Burstyn!
JRB, absofreakinlutely!
I was so disturbed though, I could not return to it, it remains a one time veiwing experience for me.
You should rent Pi by the same director...Darren has a knack for the disturbing! Very intense film.

I think it should be required viewing for High School students to show them how easily your life can be ruined by addiction.

Not to mention the fact that it has some of the best cinematography and editing work I've ever seen in a movie.
This is a remarkable, well-made, and so disturbing, film. One of the best I've seen in recent years. It definitely sticks with you after it's over. Doesn't hurt that the Kronos Quartet plays on the soundtrack.
I have Hubert Selby's book in my "to read" pile.
"Ass to ass."
It's one of my favorite movies. The first time I saw it, I was alone and it was late at night and I couldn't sleep for hours. I saw it when I was quite young, but even then, it's the first time I remember myself really thinking "Wow, this is the best acting I have ever seen in a movie!" And I still think Ellen Burstyn's performance in REQUIEM is one of the best performances EVER - and she was completely robbed of the Oscar.

I didn't like it. I was disturbed and everything, but I dunno... Just not my thing, I guess.
I think Jennifer Connelly should have won her oscar for this movie.
I only saw this movie once but it stayed with me. All the actors gave really good/moving performances.
The movie itself has so many disturbing images that my friend and I went to Toys R Us right after because we needed to detox.
Have discussed this on here before - truly amazing performance and a most disturbing film.
Briliant movie. Right behind Almost Famous as the best film of 2000. Burstyn is, in a word, phenomenal! One of the greatest performances I've ever seen. How Julia Roberts won over her is something that I'll never figure out. It's just a testament to how ridiculous the Oscars are.
Jared Leto and Marlon Wayans are very impressive, but the other revelation is Jennifer Connelly, whose work in this is gut-wrenching. How did she not get nominated?!?!
who robbed Ellen Burstyn of the supporting oscar that year?
I'll kill them.
.......oh
Julia Roberts over Ellen Burstyn, UGH. >.<
This movie was amazing; horrifically beautiful. I also read the book, and let me tell you, this is one of the few instances where seeing the movie BEFORE reading the book helps a lot.
This is the only movie that I can remember going to where the entire audience stayed for all of the credits. Then we all silently (literally, no one spoke a word) filed out of the theatre and shuffled by avoiding making eye contact with the line of people waiting to go in.
I agree that Ellen Burstyn was robbed. Just seeing her clip on the Oscars (granted it was the part when she shows up at the TV studio) made me burst into tears.
Absolutely one of my favorite films of the past 20 years. Haunting and terrifying. Brilliant performances, especially from Burstyn (robbed), Connelly (robbed of at least nom.) and Wayans.
Hard to pull off beautiful and ugly at the same time!
Yes, great movie...
I made a post a few weeks back about the movie "Pi" which is pretty similarly distrubing and same writer or director or something (forget). I suggest you all see Pi also... if you liked Requiem.
I think both movies are awesome...
