This question is twofold.
When performing, have you ever had to respond to a heckler?
and
What is the BEST response to a heckler you've ever seen?
I've never had to respond to one but the greatest response I've ever seen was Bill Hicks to some people yelling "You suck!" at him. Tis hilarious.

I saw a drag queen in the south who told someone that they couldn't get it up if the Lord called them to come. I almost wet my pants.

What if the answer was "No. Here is my girlfriend" and you're stuck? Did you have a backup plan?
The answer was ALWAYS no. Anyone who would shout crap out like that couldn't get a date if he has money.
There was one guy who yelled back, "Why, you wanna buy me a drink?"
I said, "Sure. Bartender! Get me my regular and send this man a Slim Fast."
He turned around and walked out of the bar.

Hahaha. Have you ever seen someone try to respond to a heckler and the response just SUCKED?
TheatreDiva, you used to be a drag queen? Wow! I've always wondered where drag queens learn to be so quick-witted and improvisational. Do you have a bag of one-liners for every occasion, or does it all just come naturally?
I don't know how the cast didn't respond to the cell phone (the same woman's) ringing in Act 1 and Act II of STEEL MAGNOLIAS.

I'm not sure if there's a way to do it during a play. Although I would LOVE for that to be done. Like a cell phone would ring and somebody would reference the bug zapper or something.
I found most of the stuff just came out of my mouth. Drag is pretty uncomfortable and so you tend to get bitchy pretty quick.
If you are in LA, come see me with Judy Tentua!

It's a classic but it's never been improved upon:
"Hey Buddy I'm working here! I don't come down to where you work and knock the d*cks out of your mouth, do I?"

That's a good one, but why not do pull a Seinfeld? Find out where the person works and go heckle them. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Yeah. Seinfeld cast members have great luck in dealing with hecklers.
