OMG hilarious - thanks - I had to explain to everyone at work why I burst out in hysterical laughter when I read:

I am still laughing just typing it!

My sister sent me this story as a joke with the subject "found you a new job!" I use a wheelchair (paralysis from birth defect), & I've actually never been to a Disney park (shame!), but boy have plenty of people told me about the grand hook up I'd get in the lines. And honestly, I'm horrified at the thought of being pushed ahead of everyone, & I'm pretty sure I'd decline the offer. While I advocate environmental accessibility as outlined by the law, there's nothing I hate worse than being singled out with special treatment like line breaking that really isn't necessary. I'm sitting down, hence probably more comfortable than anyone who would be standing in the line for however long. While there are plenty of people who work the system, I'm the opposite. I only take accommodations that I absolutely need. I'm keenly aware that people resent when others get what they deem to be special treatment, so I decline it unless there's no other option. I don't even park in the accessible parking spaces, but I'm amazed at how many people without permits don't mind pulling in & sitting there watching me as I zoom by them in my wheelchair. Bonus points if they manage to actually block the curb cut (that I DO use) that's usually next to the accessible space.

AEA AGMA SM - thanks a LOT - you had me burst in out loud uncontrollable hysterical laughter in my office to the point I had to flat out decline explaining why. I am not getting in trouble for sexual harassment explaining that I am imagining teenage girls inserting vodka soaked tampons and burning their crotch!

I have a severely disabled family member, who has lived his life (he is 19) in a wheelchair. My family and I do not 'take advantage' of the fact that he has the right to use handicapped access and spaces, but they are a necessity for many aspects of his life.
When we can leave the handicapped space open for someone else, we do. When we need to use it, we do. We don't expect anyone to judge. Although it has been (literally) shouted at us that because my nephew is in a wheelchair, we shouldn't 'need' the space near the store... we can just push him from anywhere else in the parking lot. (People are truly obnoxious, at times).

There is a world of difference between your viewpoint, Sugar, and the ugly quote from PB Ent: people are stooping to this whole "treat a handcapped person" insanity

May none of you with this attitude ever have to walk a day in their shoes. Or spend a day in their wheelchair.

That is truly terrible. I can understand the mentality of yelling at someone who doesn't seem to have a handicap, but someone who is actually in a wheel chair?!

The mind reels.
