I am very excited to see the new Iron Man movie. Robert has always been one of my favorite actors (and I must say, one of the most sexiest too.) Cheers to him for making a comeback with Iron Man at the box office this weekend!
I want him to play Guido Contini in the movie "Nine!"
...if the project isn't dead already.
That would be awesome, the man can sing already.

I really love him in HEART & SOULS.

After seeing him in IRON MAN, he is my top choice to play Guido Contini as well. The man exudes sex, is incredibly charming, has a great sense of humor, and has talent to spare. Who cares if he can sing? It's not like Antonio Banderas, Raul Julia, and Jonathan Pryce are famous for their great voices--and apart from Pryce, they all did wonders with the role of Guido.

Ever see him in "Chances Are" with Cybill Shepherd? What a charmer!
Wait. Did I miss something? What happened to Javier Bardem?
Javier dropped out, due to a hectic schedule... he needs to rest.
So they say.
Well, I feel out of the loop. Too bad about Bardem.
But, yes, Robert Downey Jr. is a fantastic choice to replace him. I really hope the film doesn't fall through the cracks.
Seems like he'd be great in Nine. I really like the movie Home For The Holidays, starring Holly Hunter, Anne Bancroft, Charles Durning, Dylan McDermott, Claire Danes, and Downey.

mad - I like that movie, as well - and just want to point out that it was directed by Jodie Foster.
I love Home for the Holidays. My mom and I get together every year and watch it just before thanksgiving to prepare for the insanity and acknowledge that it could always be worse.
'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' one of my favourite Downey movies though... and 'Wonderboys'.

Ahhh, Robert Downey Jr. I was raised to love him, as my mother is obsessed. Haven't seen Ironman yet, but I think I'll go this weekend. And I agree with the Nine sentiments! He'd be great.

I'm TELLING you--check out THE PICK-UP ARTIST (late '80s) in which he manages to be utterly charming playing a compulsive womanizer. The movie is fluffy and hit-or-miss, but there are dozens of snappy laugh lines delivered by Downey and an unusually cool and sexy Molly Ringwald (really). And the ending is unexpectedly mature for this kind of '80s "romp" and hints at further career heights to come.
I also love WONDER BOYS, where Downey gets to flirt with a pre-SPIDER MAN Tobey Maguire. While you're digesting that image--
Did anyone see his SINGING DETECTIVE? Was it any good?

He's terrific in WONDER BOYS, and in ZODIAC, for which he really should have picked up an Oscar nomination at the very least.
There was that very odd moment in the recent Times article about him, where he said something about how you can't go from a $2,000 suite at the Chateau Marmont to a prison cell and still be a liberal. The Times writer didn't go any further than that, and it made me curious as to Downey's political positions. Anyone know more about them?

He was great in Zodiac.
Downey Jr. and James Spader (in a tiny but memorable part) were the ONLY reasons to watch Less Than Zero (aside from the fab Bangles remake of "Hazy Shade of Winter").

And let us not forget his quest for "Mr Fuzzy" in 'Soapdish".
One of my favorite actors! Iron Man was fantastic - and yes, he'd be fantastic in Nine.
I was at the taping of his Inside the Actor's Studio last year, and he was incredible charming, candid, and brilliant.

Downey was mesmerizing in the atrocious LESS THAN ZERO, but it's creepy how his life and career started to follow the same trajectory as his character's. Wasn't he paying attention on the set? He certainly couldn't say he wasn't warned about the dangers of the hard-partying life.

roquat, he was a partier long before Less Than Zero. Apparently, he was surrounded by drugs growing up (in his household) and began taking them as a child.
