Posted: 5/19/13 at 4:13pmHis advice echoes that of my late grandma to one of her nieces in a similar predicament 30 yrs ago. I recall me grandma saying "honey, if he ain't whooping your arse or abusin' the youngins; and he provides for the family, you need to keep him". That mindset is still entrenched in some sectors. Growing up in the old south in the 60s, the worst fate for a woman was to be husband-less after 30 unless she was widowed. Sadly, Pat's very much a part of that old guard.
