How are Obama and Vilsack more responsible than Breitbart and Fox? They doctored the piece and called for her removal repeatedly. I thought Fox wanted the president to be responsive to the wishes of his constituents? Isn't that they attacked him for on the Health bill?
And Fox and Breitbart didn't just report this story. They made it up- if it were true I'd say they "Broke" the story. Contrast their lack of punishment with CBS and Sixty Minutes which fell for doctored documents that purported to show GW Bush had gone AOL from his National Guard service. Producers and the station's #1 anchor were both ousted for their error.

Let's check on who "doctored" the tape.
Further, Obama was wrong to fire her, in fact, racist in his efforts and rush to fire her.
No news outlet runs the administration. OR, do they? Is this how Obama is thinking? Do what MESSNBC says to do.
And is your suggestion for fires someone at Fox? Who?

You raise excellent point- perhaps a congressional hearing- with subpoena power- to investigate how this issue was handled? I'd be very curious to know who doctored the tapes. Breitbart seems to almost take responsibility for it- he's "defended" himself without ever saying he didn't, only that the "other side" does it- but I don't think that's enough to convict him- literally or figuratively.
But I don't see how Obama was "racist" in this instance. And MSNBC never told him to fire her- Fox News did. In fact, as you yourself have cited, MSNBC has excoriated him for firing her. Was that a typo? Did you mean to type "FOX" but typed "MSNBC" instead?

Subpoena power and a full congressional investigation seem like a good idea.
Fox told Obama to fire Shirley? That poor girl. What did Fox have against her?
What would Breitbart be convicted of?

Fox certainly did tell Obama Shirley must go- you linked to the story in another thread. Bill O'Reilly said it Monday night and again Tuesday.
If I were Shirley Sherrod I'd sue Breitbart for libel and or slander- defamation. Her reputation was destroyed by his publishing and repeating false statements. She was not a well-known public figure and he attacked her with false information.
Now that the farmers involved in the case have come forward to tell their side, Breitbart is attacking them, saying that the wife is a "fake" and not really the woman she claims to be. Makes me wonder if perhaps the FCC needs to have oversight o cable stations.

Posted: 7/22/10 at 3:11pmI don't want to skip over this: How was Obama racist in his handling of the matter? Bill O'Reilly said that Sherrod must go- was he racist also? I can't get my head around the shared racism of a right wing white guy and a left-to-center black guy in their views of a black civil servant incorrectly smeared for discriminating against a white farmer.

Posted: 7/22/10 at 5:32pmGosh I'm really hoping we get an answer soon Count: It's really got me flummoxed! If Obama THOUGHT Sherood was a racist and asked for her resignation then when he discovered she WASN'T a racist offered her her job back, wouldn't that mean Obama is ANTI-racist? How was his handling of this matter racist?

How they allow the vitriol this man spews against a president, including clearly racist rants under the guise of entertainment is sickening. Well, he endorsed Sarah Palin's book and called her a smart woman, so we know who we are dealing with.
He also is a grade A moron for accusing Michael J Fox of "playing" up his Parkinsons for stem cell research.

Fox did play it up. Sad. But true.
And Rush's ratings are still on their way up.
I know we hate it, but Rush is very successful.

Posted: 7/22/10 at 10:46pmBut how is Obama a racist for firing Shirley Sherrod because he thought she was a racist?
#36Rush Answers His Critics
Posted: 7/22/10 at 10:54pmIt was racist to assume that she was wrong because she was black. Obama NEEDED to verify his sources, he is the President of the United States.

EVERYONE NEEDED to verify their sources not just Obama and his administration, but her firing did not happen because she was black it happened because it was assumed she made racial remarks. If it would have been a white woman, an asian man or a latino (a) and the same assumption would have been made instead of verifying the source the outcome would have been the same.
So no, Obama's administration wasn't being racist. Ignorant, yes. Racist, no.

Huh? He asked for her resignation because he thought she was racist. When he found out she wasn't he apologized and offered her a job. That sure seems anti-racist to me.
I don't understand how this is all about Obama- surely Breitbart and Fox are the villans here, no?

100% Joe. Breitbart, instead of making any form of apology, is putting it all on the Obama administration as far as I can hear from his latest interview. He will never apologize. The guy is scum.
Fox never apologizes either....well, Bill O'Reilly did. For these apparent "real news" people, it makes them look really ignorant for putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 8 before referencing and checking everything.
I don't think Bush would have apologized...just my opinion.

#41Rush Answers His Critics
Posted: 7/23/10 at 11:00amI think he was trying to say he only automatically assumed she was guilty as charged because she is black. I know it's stupid..but I think that's what he meant.

Yes, Obama and Vilsack assumed Shirley was guilty. They did not listen to the entire speech. HOWEVER, she and her audience are truly anti-white.
If a white said the same thing about a black, would they be offered a new job? The answer is "NO!"
I voted for a post-racial president. Instead, we got the MOST racial President.

Why look, he stole this from David Limbaugh too.
What would you do if your students plagiarized like this?

May 2009: White House press secretary Robert Gibbs warned critics of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor to measure their words carefully, implying they were race-based.
