Another classic move by the toilet bowl of Europe. That country is a cesspool filled with anti-semetic, racist, homophobic trolls. In the last several decades, they have contributed nothing of global significance and are a zit on the face of the planet. We need to pop it, and the vile animals that come from there.

Back at the gay cabaret in Sochi, club owner Andrei believes the debate about homosexuality is designed to distract Russians from more pressing problems at home and to unite the country behind the government.

"Your average Russian citizen sitting at home watching TV now understands who he needs to fight against, who the enemy is," Andrei tells me. "It's gays - and the Western countries who support them. And the more the West supports gays in Russia, the more Russian people hate us - because the accepted wisdom here is that the West is evil."

I just started reading the book CHRISTIAN NATION by Frederic Rich, which imagines a world in which John McCain won the presidency and then died, leaving President Palin to fulfill her Dominionist fever dreams. It's quite interesting, thus far, but I'm not sure I buy the premise. There's something in the American character...that individualist streak that I often roll my eyes at that makes me believe that Americans would make terrible little Germans.

I mean...I can imagine many a scenario where SH*T goes down on an epic scale which would lead to Americans behaving differently. But I'm of the belief that it would have to be so profoundly epic in scale (catastrophic, really) as to be almost unimaginable. Perhaps I'm being naive, but the worst people in the world to say, 'You have to do this' or 'You can't do that' to are Americans. I'd argue that it's the overwhelming national trait.
