xzakly, Chica! I'd never assume someone had any specific views or agenda due to their religion (so many people are hypocrites) but if she wants to advertise a hateful bigot as her hero...what are we to assume?

If someone's favorite actor was an alcoholic, does that make them one? if someone's favorite singer was Michael Jackson, does that make them a child molestor (if you think he is one)? if someone's favorite comedian were Rosie O'Donnell, does that make them a gay-rights activists?

I guess I don't really see how Mandisa liking one author, even if they are outspoken about their anti-gay beliefs, makes her a "gay-hater" or "bitch".

For a group of people who takes a lot of crap from the world, you sure know how to make a Christian feel unwelcome.
Seriously, overall, this board parades around as being a 'everyone is welcome, we won't judge you' kind of place. But I, as a Christian who happens to love Broadway and theatre (shocking, I know), have repeatedly had my religion mocked, degraded, and scorned in a way that I really can't see most of you acting toward any other group of people. it's like, "welcome everyone! you will be loved here because we are caring compassionate people, no matter what--unless of course, you are a part of a group that hasn't welcomed us...then we hate you."

Its because the author's writings are anti-gay and Mandisa call's the woman (beth moore) her american idol.

Your analogy is faulty rentaholic, because Michael Jackson does not publicly promote Child Molestation, but Beth Moore is publicly anti-gay.

you can think Rosie O'donnell is a great actress, which is something that has nothing to do with her personal beliefs, but Beth Moore, writes her Personal Beliefs, and when you claim a person as your favorite author, then you claim there writings as your favorite, and if your favorite authors writings are anti-gay, then your favorite writings are anti-gay.

Therefore Mandisa is disgusting piece of trash.

just playing devil's advocate...Dianetics states that homosexuality is an unnatural state(or something like that).
Does that mean people who believe in Dianetics are disgusting pieces of trash?

I will say this, if she made the "lifestyle" comment than I'm pretty sure she was referring to GLBTs and not alcoholics.

i can appreciate where you're coming from but nothing can degrade these hateful christians as much as their own behavior. jimmy carter is a christian -- a great example of christ's compassion in action. pat robertson is a christian -- a great example of christo-fascism in action. i'm sure you know the difference.

Rentaholic2, I just wanted to comment on your post. I am a Christian and I think that anyone who has read my posts or knows me knows that. I do not hide it at all. I have never been made feel unwelcome here, I have never felt scorned, mocked, or been rudely treated because of it. Along with stating my personal beliefs and faith I have also made it clear that I could care less who someone chooses to love or be with. The basis of Christianity is loving those around you and also not judging others.

I don't think that they are judging her too harshly, she has said that she supports someone who writes anti-gay material and chose to use the term "lifestyle", which as most people know is just a nice way of saying those who fall into the GLBT lifestyles. By supporting that author and saying that she supports and praises her work then she is saying this is what I believe in. How would you feel if someone went on tv and supported an author who wrote about Christian-bashing, or that all Christians should be exiled or things like that? You would be outraged. You would want that person off of a show that allows them to reach a very large audience. That is all that is going on here.

one may get by with saying that homosexuality is a lifestyle. what queen doesn't want to be told that they have style? however, alcoholism is a disease pure and simple and should not be equated with sexual identity.
