Given Kennedy's track record regarding the 14th Amendment, I see this going well. If so, I'd expect Roberts to jump on board; he's more concerned about legacy than the rest of the fringe on the SCOTUS.

God, I remember organizing marches and rallies and phone banks in 2008-09. I know this sounds hyperbolic to those who have gone through far more historic and challenging civil right struggles, but it *did* feel like a generation of LGBT folk had been awoken. And, then, when there whispers of taking the struggle to a national level all the way to the Supreme Court, I was among those opposed -- it was "too soon", the "nation wasn't ready", we should keep this at the State levlel, small victories leading up to a big one. I think I'll happily be eating my hat on that one this June. A few years ago I would have been shocked if SCOTUS would rule for marriage equality. Now, I'd be shocked if they didn't.

These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
