I'm very nervous about this. I have no idea how this is going to go, and all the legal pundits have made me even more confused as to what they think The Court will do.
But to echo PJ, no matter what happens it's truly amazing to stop and realize where we are today. Almost 60% of Americans are for it and the "Porter Effect" is sweeping the GOP.
Yes, people's hearts can be moved.

Taz, I also have no idea! I also asked the question today about Scalia.
I reviewed Lawrence v. Texas last night and personally do not see how the 14th Amendment does not demand marriage equality. I was struck as to why Justice Kennedy specifically stated:
It does not involve whether the government must give formal recognition to any relationship that homosexual persons seek to enter.
I would strike DOMA and Prop 8 under the Equal Protection Clause.
These matters, involving the most intimate and personal choices a person may make in a lifetime, choices central to personal dignity and autonomy, are central to the liberty protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life.

I was struck as to why Justice Kennedy specifically stated: "It does not involve whether the government must give formal recognition to any relationship that homosexual persons seek to enter."
Perhaps because he has a longstanding and deep-seated animus against gay people, initially fed by the misapplied precepts of the Catholic Church, and seeded and watered by decades of practiced bigotry.
