I miss CHeri Oteri, Molly Shannon and even Nora Dunn and Jan Hooks!
Nora Dunn is a goddess.
so is Jan Hooks
Feeding the cats, doodle?
Yes, kitten.
and am horrified to find that my post of the vid cover of "Twirl" starring Erin Moran, Lisa Welchel, Connie Stevens, and Donna McKechnie did not marterialize in the Drum Corps thread!
That is horrifying indeed!!!
gotta run to catch ATM!

I caught it the other weekend. There is no saving this once great show. I haven't liked it for years. The only one worth watching is Mya Rudolph. Time to pull the plug, Lorne.
SNL hasn't been good since the Dana Carvey/Adam Sandler/Kevin Nealon/Phil Hartman/Julia Sweeney/Chris Farley/Rob Schneider/David Spade/Chris Rock days.
Horatio Sanz was a disgrace - probably the LEAST funny person to ever be on the show (well, maybe Melanie Hustle who was the one blot on that otherwise amazing cast listed above).
There are a lot of really lousy shows with that cast, above! Good ones, too. Just like it's always been. And, I'm still trying to figure out the talents of many of that original cast. Chevy Chase, anyone?

Why hasn't Hammond decided to leave on his own? I mean, most SNL comics are delusional enough to think they're funny on their own (when in fact they're not aka Kattan). Yeah, it's easy money to just do some random skits like this is some trashy downtown club, but does Hammond have any aspirations? Perhaps a reprise of his role as a coke-snorting lawyer on SVU?
Nora Dunn, Jan Hooks, Victoria Jackson...
Members of the last funny cast on SNL.
I was just thinking, remember how bad Julia L. D. and Christine Ebersole were on the show in their day? Two really talented people who were either bad at sketch or poorly written for.
Yes. Therefore, it's interesting to note that in her recent hosting stint, Louis-Dreyfus was very good in the sketches.
SNL was where I first saw Sarah Silverman. She was genius. I remember being shocked when they fired her.
her name's funny though.
"ellen"
LOL. it gets me EVERY time.
What happened to Tim Kazurinsky?
who cares?
No kidding. It nearly ruined Miss Saigon for me. After Kim shot herself, I couldn't stop laughing when Ellen ran onstage.

Rath, remember Julia Louis Dreyfus and Mary Gross arguing about the black Ghostbuster? "But Chi Chi, he din' do nothing!"
For me, the show hasn't been funny since Will Ferrel left. It was bordering on non-funny for awhile before then, but that was the final nail in the coffin.
I miss the Mike Myers/Dana Carvey/Kevin Nealon era. *sigh*
ahhh, the sweeney sisters! love them.
I agree with Borstal boy. the problem is not really with the actors, while there are some weaker then others. and it's not that some aren't funny, they just haven't translated to viewers yet. people don't "get" them yet- i.e fred armison. someone said this to Jim Carrey once in the comedy club one night after he bombed a set. "they don't get you now, but when they do, you're gonna go through the roof" that quote reminds me of a bunch of these new performers.
they need to get better writers, and clean house in that area before they do anything. promoting seth meyers to head writer was a mistake, as he has been the assistant head writer in the past, and we know how that has worked out.
the ones to look foward to- bill hader (great impressionist), darrel hammond, maya rudolph, and amy poehler (obviously), and Kristin Wiig, who is underutilized, but will go through the roof once she finds her flow.
I will give this season a chance.
but I hate Dane cook.
