Really, Calvin? So, say, you never envisioned someone writing the sentence, "Rachel Dratch is incapable of playing a variety of characters" then?

Fie on your throwing of negatives into my logic!
Rath, I'll just say that she is quite good at playing a variety of characters -- all in the exact same way. But I like Bob Newhart, too.

Dane Cook may have "bombed" but he also brought them the highest ratings the show had in years.
I'm going to assume they're keeping Kristen Wiig, who is freaking hilarious, as is Bill Hader.

It all comes down to money. Sanz and Parnell have been with the show many years, and their salaries get higher every year. They are easily replaced with younger, cheaper actors.
Thankfully, the producers realize they CAN'T fire Darrell Hammond.

Bill Hader reminds me of a young Dan Ackroyd, specially when he does his Vincent Price.
Last I heard Sanz was still in the cast. Finese and Parnell were let go.

from Variety:
Returning to "SNL" next season will be Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Bill Hader, Darrell Hammond, Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Kenan Thompson and Kristen Wiig.
Poehler will be back on the "Weekend Update" desk. There's no official word yet on who will co-anchor "Update" with her, but -- despite published speculation about another contender -- all signs now point to Meyers taking on the gig. An official announcement is expected as early as this week.

Samberg can't act...which ruins any jokes he may be doing.
Seth Meyers will work well for "Update: I think. He's rather running his course now, isn't he?
I still miss Cheri Oteri and the over-medicated lady.

Posted: 9/20/06 at 4:55pmI'm truly surprised the show is still running. The last time I thought it was funny was in 1990.

Sending away three members isn't exactly cleaning house...I wish they would really clean house and get some decent WRITERS on the scene.
And can the frat boy cognicenti please get over its Dane Cook fixation? This guy makes Gallagher look like Lenny Bruce.

"The non-announcement was made by simply omitting the regulars' names from a press release touting the start of the show's 32nd season. When called for comment, a rep for the network acknowledged the trio would be MIA but denied there was any bad blood between the threesome and svengali producer Lorne Michaels or that their departure was the result of a firing."
apparently it was a surprise to some...

Posted: 9/20/06 at 5:07pmSNL was always a lousy show. Why do people keep saying it isn't funny, anymore? People have been saying that since it started. It's rarely funny. It's always been that way. You watch for 90 minutes, and you're lucky if you smile a couple of time. Laughing out loud is like finding a 4-leaf clover. To me, the abolute worst cast, was the original one.
