I never thought I would say this but the SNL last night was the best in years. The entire show was great from start to finish - not a weak skit in the bunch
Arminsen's Bloomberg was dead on & maybe one of the funnyiest opening bits in recent memory. Carrey was fabulous.
Aside from the Bloomberg sketch not really working for me, and the repeated pubic hairpiece commercial, I agree. I laughed several times - especially at the theme park sketch, the psychic sketch (Carrey's still got it), and the Grady Wilson sketch (one of the only recurring ones on the show I can't seem to get enough of - they ALWAYS make me laugh).
I know it's been said over and over, but notice -- good episode, not a single twitchy overdone Kristen Wiig character. That's got to mean something!
I laughed out loud multiple times, which hasn't happened for me in a long time watching SNL. It was a really strong episode and makes me wish that Carrey was a permanent cast member.
Carrey made sure a lot of extra work went into making the sketches work last night. Was very interesting watching his process.
Snafu, is his real life personality as goofy as he acts?
Nowhere near as goofy as he acts.

I wonder why it took him 15 years to come back (aside from his cameo with the Foo Fighters).
Snafu, did he seem to get along well with the cast? He seems like the kind of person who would be able to get along well with just about anybody.
The carnival ride sketch killed me! My favorite of the night. And The Black Keys had me running to my itunes. Loved them!

yeah carnival sketch = awesome
jim carrey's alan thicke impression was outstanding... and jason sudeikis' reaction to it was hysterical.. and i loved his line "no one does a thicke!" hahah
I think that carnival sketch was the best thing I've seen on SNL in quite a long time.
Carrey's Black Swan character reminded me of this:
And I loved it. He's fantastic when it comes to sketch comedy and just really seemed at home which is so important to making the show good.
The funny thing is, I can't put my finger on what made the carnival skit funny. I tried describing it to someone and it sounded like it should be just another skit. Something about it, though, made it really work.
I think it was just the right mix of clever, creepy, and funny, all at the same time.
I missed the show, but looked at the carnival skit on Hulu and it was hilarious!
