Alright guys- you really helped me in my "in need of advice on college" post- it helped me so much! You guys are awesome....anyway- I visited Syracuse yesterday and I thought it had a beautiful campus. I didn't have the chance to really look into the school of visual & performing arts, but all I heard was that it was very competitive and intense. Now it's your shot to tell me ALL you know about syracuse- the ups downs and everything in between. What do you guys know about the vocal training, acting, and dancing?
Thanks so much! : )

I don't know much, and this might not help you at all. But I live in Syracuse, and from what I hear/see it's a GREAT school for the visual + performing arts. Sure it may be competitive, but the program is supposedly amazing. Plus the campus is amazing and there's Marshall Street and they have good food here and basically Syracuse people rock. We have fun festivals. It's a lot of fun. It may be expensive, but there are a lot of things to do on weekends (we have a good mall...). I wish I could tell you more about the program. But just know that Syracuse is a very fun place to live.

From my understanding, Syracuse's is an intense conservatory-esque curriculum. I'm interning at a talent agency right now, and one of our clients is a Syracuse grad. She's absolutely amazing, and works often.

Hi! I am actually at SU summer college for high school students now. I am studying MT and loving it! The summer program is really hard and intense but I LOVE IT! I have grown so much here in the past month! The teachers are all amazing too! Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see if I know anything! Good luck to you!
Hey there. I was VERY close to going to Syracuse for undergrad. I got into the BFA acting program and chose not to because I decided that a conservatory setting was not what I was looking for (ironically, I am entering a conservatory to do an MFA in September...). The issue isn't whether or not Syracuse has a good theatre program--from what I've gathered, it does. The issue is whether or not you want to be in a conservatory, doing almost nothing but theater for the next four years. If that's what you want--great. But just know that that's what you're getting into.
One thing though--my cousin DID go to Syracuse (but wasn't in the theater program), and I remember her saying that there were a lot of spoiled rich kids there. Actually, the term she used was...and I am only quoting what SHE said, this in no reflects any feelings/opinions of my own...she said it was very "JAP-y". I'm just quoting her.

Baritone, there are SO MANY spoiled rich students there. I mean, you don't see many Hummers up here, but when you see them at all, they are mostly on campus and at the dorms.
Also, we have awesome community theatre here.

Julia Murney went there...
I go to Syracuse and will be a Sophomore musical theater major this year. Private Message me with what you want to know.

SU is cool. I'd totally go there if the tuition wasn't more than my house.
i know some people who went to syracuse for MT and loved it.
but i also know some who hated it.
it all depends
i would say go back and look more into the performing arts program in the fall before you audition.
