I am tucking this one away for when the gay sex tape emerges.

Posted: 4/10/12 at 7:43pmThe best comment I've seen was on Facebook: "Not fair! He should have to carry his dead campaign to full term!"

Posted: 4/10/12 at 9:45pmPlacing the needs of his ill (possibly dying) three-year old daughter above the chance of being president shows he at least practices what he preaches, like it or not.

I think the truth hurts.
He couldn't win if he stayed in the race. The fact that he used his sick child to justify it is laughable.

Posted: 4/10/12 at 10:16pmA seriously ill child is NEVER laughable.

The cynic in me questions wheter the child is actually ill or if this is a ruse to have him bow out to something other then defeat so he can rise again in 2016.

I suppose you don't keep up with the world beyond 57th Street. His child was born with a developmental disorder that kills many children within their first year. If you can possibly keep informed on events, do so. There's more out there to read than the Sondheim Quarterly or old copies of After Dark.

Speaking of reading, if you read the post you took exception to, you'll see it said that Santorum's using the sick child as an excuse was laughable; not that the sick child was laughable.
You can agree with that or not, but you don't need to rewrite what the poster said.

Dismount your high horse.
No one is making fun of his daughter's illness.
However, I do think that this was an absolutely savvy move. His daughter, by his own words, has a life that was measured in days and weeks. It seems as though her death due to the illness (Edwards syndrome) is an inevitable fact; it is going to occur sooner than later, or some other health crisis in relation to it.
If Santorum had the majority of votes, he would not have dropped out at this time. But it was clearly a lost cause, in the fact of Romney's recent victories and the uphill battle ahead- a battle Santorum most likely would've lost.
His daughter's illness provided the perfect opportunity for him to drop out without having the stigma of having been truly beaten yet.
I don't doubt his daughter's illness or his love and concern. But it was opportune.

Posted: 4/10/12 at 10:56pmExactly. With projections showing that Santorum is likely to lose his home state to Romney what else could he do? I seriously don't think we have seen the end of him. Looks for him again in 2016.
