Sarah Palin's Daughter Uses Homophobic Slurs

During the premiere of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" Sunday night -- a boy named Tre who went to school with the Palin kids wrote a status update that read, "Sarah Palin's Alaska, is failing so hard right now."

The comment sparked an intense response from Willow -- who replied on the boy's wall, "Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I've seen pictures of, your disgusting ... My sister had a kid and is still hot."

Willow followed up that comment with another that read, "Tre stfu. Your such a f**got."

Bristol Palin also got in on the smacktalk -- writing a message to Tre saying, "You're running your mouth just to talk sh*t."

Eventually, a message board war erupted -- and Bristol took aim at another person named Jon -- saying, "You'll be as successful as my baby daddy, And actually I do work my ass off. I've been a single mom for the last two years."

After more users began to gang up on the Palins, Willow dropped another message that read, "Sorry that you guys are all jealous of my families success and you guys aren't goin to go anywhere with your lives."

Sources connected to the Palin family tell us ... Willow normally doesn't use this type of language, but she felt like she was being attacked along with her family. The source added it was the baby bear defending Mama Grizzly.

I saw this on TMZ last night and thought two things:

1. Although throwing words like that around are unfortunately typical of too many teenagers, it doesn't reflect well on her upbringing. Nice job, Sarah and Todd. Makes us love you even more...not.

2. Girlfriend needs remedial English stat.

The sad part is that Sarah's show was a huge hit. Record numbers for TLC (or whatever channel it is).

This will improve her image tremendously, making her all the more viable as a candidate in 2012.

I still think she'll run as a 3rd party candidate though.

What's most depressing about the Palin phenomenon is that she is embraced by around 40% of the country.

If she runs in 2012, it could set us back a generation. It would dumb-down the level of discourse, and sensationalize the election beyond the circus it has already become.

I agree. This show just got started and I am betting the media is looking for every little negative thing that happens to slpash all over tv.

I saw a brief interview the other day with Bristol where she was, pretty much, articulately talking about herself and then she comes out with the "baby daddy" comment. One step forward, two steps back.

The funniest thing to me is that they expect all to bow down at the alter of Mama Grizzly Bear. All the guy did was say that the show sucked - which is a fair criticism of any show on TV.

Apparently though not when it involves the Palins.

Willow is the one that Palin fantasized about David Letterman having sex with, right?

You know, with the cultural meme that teens are the most tech savvy folks, I just find it hard to muster up sympathy for the Palin girls (despite the surprising number of defenders they seem to have on Towleroad). I mean, I want to believe that they can't be that stupid, but perhaps they really are.

Actually, the Palin daughters are probably average. I was giving Bristol a pass until she made herself a public figure. I'm glad my kids' facebook postings aren't publicly scrutinized.

Why does "You have to be carefully taught" keep running in my head?

In all honestly, Bristol at least had the self-awareness to apologize. Of the daughters, she seems the most human to me, and she is still not a box of chocolates. Willow, she has not fallen far from that Mama Grizzly tree.

If "your" instead of "you're" and "families" instead of "family's" is average, I shudder to think at what below average is.

Like it or not, fair or not, their mother is the one who has aroused the scrutiny of the children. Perhaps the real blame lies with her, but it shouldn't take that too much critical thinking to realize that what one posts on Facebook most like will not remain private (I'm looking at YOU, Hunter Cody). Fair or not, they are the children of a polarizing political figure and because of that, what they do - especially when their behavior flies directly in the face of the family narrative their mother is trying to build - is going to be of interest to the public, especially unhinged stuff like this.

In the realm of texting and facebook, grammar doesn't matter. At all. And I lay all the blame for the Palin phenomenon at the feet of John McCain, who, to paraphrase Stewart and/or Colbert, spends more time scrutinizing military surveys about homosexuality than he did in choosing his running mate.

I mean, she's writing in complete sentences and not doing "ur" and stuff like that, so the grammar mistakes may not matter, but they are certainly indicative.
