Does anyone out there think that she'd be perfect in the title role of a biopic of Marylin Monroe?
The thought just occured to me. I think seeing her with the blonde hair in "The Black Dahlia" really opened my eyes to how great she'd be.
I am starting to get sick of Scarlett Johansson. She is starting to get the Nicole Kidman syndrome, where she is in every single movie that comes out and is beginning to get seriously overplayed!
Granted I didn't like her in "The Black Dahlia," but I think she has talent.
And I think she'd be great in a film of Marilyn's life.
I mean, she does have a lot of talent . . . it's just I am tired of seeing her everywhere.
And on topic . . . I agree!
Scarlett Johanssen has the figure, but Charlize is the one who can look the most like her out of all the actors I can think of. I wonder if Charlize was "enhanced" in these photos.
It's not a matter of "looking" like Marilyn Monroe; I can't think of anyone who possesses or could pull off the natural screen precense and sexual charisma with the camera she had. Scarlett is gorgeous and talented, but I'd rather not see her or anyone using a breathy voice and trying to caricature the vulnerable dumb blonde shtick. I hate to treat any actor is if they were some sacred cow or anything, but I just don't find the idea appealing.
I also agree with spider. She's well on her way to over-exposure and, IMO, more than a little over-rated. She is talented enough, but by no means the second coming.
While I don't think that Charlize or anyone could ever re-create the same magic that Monroe had, I don't think she would play the role as a caricature. I think she's shown that she's grown into an actress with a certain amount of depth over the years.
I think Scarlett is one of the best young actresses in Hollywood who dosn't have a party girl repuataion. Scarlett did graduate from the Professional Children's School. I dont't think Marilyn Monroe would be right for her.
That photo is amazing...I had to do a double take.
She's hardly overexposed. She's in good films, doing good work.
The overexposed ones are the ones out partying and getting in trouble every night. They're the ones I'm sick of.
With the exception of Match Point, I think she's brilliant in just about everything. Her best performance was in A Love Song for Bobby Long, which a total of three people saw.
I watched part of A Love Song for Bobby Long, because I was told she was good in it. I didn't think she was any better in that than everything else she's done. IMO-my opinion-she's the same in every role and not even very good being the same in every role.
I didn't think she was the same at ALL in LiT, Girl/Pearl Earring, ...Bobby Long, or Match Point.

If that's the case, I would suggest watching the whole thing.

She and it weren't good enough for me to spend any more time on it than I did. Sorry if that bothers you~
BTW-I started out as a really big fan of Scarlett. I think I first saw her in Ghost World and liked everything about her-her look, her voice, her acting. Then I made sure to see everything I could that she did after that. I am disappointed to say that after seeing almost everything I think she has NO range whatsoever. Just my opinion.
I am so sick of this woman. She's like the female Jude Law. Starring in every movie coming out (almost) and becoming overexposed and quite overrated. Granted she's beautiful and has talent, but enough with the "I'm so young but I bely my age and love my curvy not skinny body".
Jane2-
It doesn't bother me. I'm just sayin'...

I also did a double take on those photos.
She seems to be Woody Allens new girl.

Oh, ok, good. I didn't want to get into an argument about peoples' opinions! thanks 86!

I adore Scarlett. I think she's a wonderful actress and, while she is in a lot of movies lately, I don't get sick of her at all. Her performances in Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring were truly inspiring to me. And other than the score and Mia Kershner, she was the only redeeming thing about The Black Dahlia.
I don't know if I'd like to see anyone "do" Marilyn, though. She was so unique that I think anyone trying to be her would come off as a caricature. But I'm open to the possibilities.

That's funny because i'm the exact opposite...could not STAND Lost In Tranlsation (the overall worst film i've seen in a long time becauswe it took it'self sooo seriously but was utter crap) but LOVED Match Point maily because her character was so unlikeable.

Right off the bat, we disagree. :) I thought she did a tremendous job of bringing across Charlotte's sadness and charm. She also didn't shy away from her character's selfish side.
I didn't like her in Match Point because I felt she was either flat ("So, who's my next victim?") or untruthful ("You're a liar!"). It was like Woody Allen and Johansson had this fascinating, difficult character and has no idea what to do with her. Her drunk scene was good, but other than that, I know several college-level actresses who could have done it better.

Well, I've said before that Lost In Translation is now one of my all time favorite films. And-I even liked Scarlett in it because that role didn't seem to require a stretch by her, and that may be testimony that she did well in it.
