It's been startling to observe how many people instantly opted to school us in the dangers of "mob mentality on the internet." FB is awash with self-appointed moral arbiters, either fretting over this man's "loss of livelihood" or checking the masses for their shallow desire to bring ruinous harm to a hardworking dentist's family. In 72 hours, this man's "innocent children" have inspired as much empathy as Sam DuBose's. The new normal, the presumption of a hierarchy of news cycle dictated human rights lite. I finally shut up one incensed scold by saying, "I wouldn't want the man who cut off Cecil's head to put his fingers in my mouth." Sometimes, it's that simple. "Loss of livelihood." Please.
