He is somebody who was fined and put on probation for wildlife hunting violations in the past. But now we're supposed to take his claim that he just DIDN'T KNOW it was an important lion he "took." The rest of it was okay though? The baiting of the lion out of the park? That's just standard operating procedure for a rich Minnesota dentist and the "sport" he "loves"?

For a while the negative Yelp reviews were being deleted right and left. I gather they (he?) have given up.

I feel like a handwriting analyst could go to town on the teeny tiny milquetoast little signature he put at the bottom of these documents outline the corrective action he was going to need to take to keep his dentistry license after sexually harassing an employee/patient and keeping shoddy records:

“I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity that I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion,” he said.
Jesus, dude. You were fined a few years ago and put on probation because your responsible practice was ILLEGAL.

It's sad he won't ever have to answer for his actions, because I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the U.S. does not have an extradition agreement with Zimbabwe. I do wonder how he'd fare in a Zimbabwean prison.

Joe.My.God said there is such an agreement, I dunno if it's true.
I accidentally looked at a photo of the skinned, beheaded carcass of the lion. It's like seeing the destruction of a masterpiece. Of course the remains were just left there because Palmer is such a responsible sportsman.

I gather that several posters were in their feelings when they contributed to this thread. It is worth mentioning however that there are scores of individuals on the planet who find the elective abortion of human fetuses as equally appalling as Dr. Palmer's favorite sport. No judgment here on either count.

Actually, I'm going to assume that many of those up in arms about the inhumane slaying of one lion have no problem turning around and endorsing/approving the practice of late term abortions. A fetus past its third trimester apparently has less of a right than a lion simply because it hasn't been pushed out of a vagina yet.

The narcissist killer's claim that that this was a "legal" act is dumbfounding. And, what is the phrase "taking"? Revolting!

I hate him.
As I said on FB I really have never been able to get my head around hunting for sport. It may be latent, but getting a thrill from killing for no reason indicates there is some effed up pathology going on.

"Actually, I'm going to assume... "
No, no! BAD Headband! BAD!
How many times do I have to tell you that EVERY TIME you begin a sentence with the words "I'm going to assume..." not ONLY are you wrong but you are also TROLLING?
You may not--EVER!--assume what anyone else believes. Because when you do, you are--ALWAYS--lacking in comprehension or nuance.

I feel like a better straw man analogy would be comparing this to eating meat, not late term abortion.

Unless people have started having late term abortions for sport the analogy doesn't make sense.

The dentist had no interest in the meat - only the trophy of the lion's head. NPR reports that the male lion who will replace Cecil will kill his offspring - so further death at the hands of the narcissistic dentist!

I guess that's another way late term abortions are exactly the same thing.

I know of no one personally who has eaten a human fetus or lion meat. However, I'm acquainted with a number of women who opted to terminate at least one pregnancy at some point in their lives. For some individuals (and institutions) such an act at any stage of gestation is considered murder unequivocally. I'm not here to play judge and jury in the lives of those women, their adversaries, nor in Dr. Palmer's. Nor do I presuppose what LizasHeadBand intended to convey to the group. Everyone has a right to go to his or her personal hell in their own way is my only suggestion.

Remember that time the abortion provider spent $55,000 for the chance to perform a late-term abortion on a woman outdoors late at night using only a coat hanger and no anesthesia? And then the woman in excruciating pain wandered off and disappeared for 40 hours but the provider and his guides tracked her down two days later and performed d&c but the woman died from loss of blood so they cut off her head and removed her skin and left her body there?
NOBODY DOES.

If your attitude is so live and let live, then why are you bringing it up in this thread which is not about abortions? Make your own thread.

Namo,
I really don't want to get drawn into this but for many people fetuses matter. In some ways, I've always felt that being the owner of a penis disqualifies me from having a side in the abortion debate. For the record, I am pro-choice but it was a difficult choice to come by. However, to keep thing half-way fair and balanced, an abortion counter follows.

I guess I need to spell it out. People eat meat. People take pictures of themselves with their dead meat. The animals that become meat are often treated awfully in deplorable conditions. I could see chastising those people who are bent out of shape over this lion thing if they are people who eat meat more than I can understand chastisting pro-choice people who are bent of out shape over the death of this lion. I will just rephrase LH's comment and maybe some of our thickerheaded posters will finally get the gist.
Actually, I'm going to assume that many of those up in arms about the inhumane slaying of one lion have no problem turning around and endorsing/approving the practice of the inhuman slaying of animals for food.
