My word, the phone sequence in the beginning is hysterical.
Could this film be funnier than "But I'm A Cheerleader" ?

I think it is funnier. I caught it on tv today (I hadn't seen it in years) and was pleasantly surprised at how well it's held up.

Has Kathleen Turner ever been offered a better script?

This movie is so strange, but Turner's brilliant in it.

Any movie that has someone being murdered with a chicken while that god-awful song "tomorrow" is blaring in the background is tops in my book.

I love ever single second of it. By far, Kathleen Turner's finest performance.

yeah every other thing she's ever done on the big screen pales in comparison to her performance in "Serial Mom".
She was robbed of some major awards that year.

Waters claims he wouldn't have done the film if Turner hadn't agreed to play Beverly. According to him, there was no other actress who could have done her justice.

I agree.

Maybe on this thread someone can help me with something I never understood. Remember at the very end she kills the lady in the end for wearing white "after labor day" I never understood that?

Traditionally, fashion conventions dictate that white (shoes and pants?) should only be worn from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

"the lady in the end"

Do you honestly not know who that lady is? *hyperventilates with her own middle-agedness*

Rath, I thought I had read that the role was written with Julie Andrews in mind, and that, while Waters knew she'd never do it, he made her a serious offer, anyway. Regardless, Turner is superb.

I'd say maybe it had something to do with her vocal problems? Or she was busy doing something else...?

So no autograph?
