Hey my school is doing Seussical this, and I know that a lot of ya'll have done it, and I was wondering if MIT gives the rights to a different version that what is one the OCR. Thanks for putting up with another stupid quesion.

This a really good question. I did it over the summer. Our version was in many ways very different form the OCR. One of the major differences was that the cat and Jojo tell the story together. At the begginning, Jojo's just a boy, but the cat puts him into the story part way through. There are other little changes. I never knew if that was normal though.
I just came out of the show, and our version was different that the OBC.
The song "The Cat in the Hat" was gone.
There were lots of added parts to songs. The opening has some added music. Little words were changed here and there.
The General's song in "The Military" had some cuts.
There is a whole section about The Circus, that is might have been in the original, but if it was it wasn't on the recording.
There was also as added number for the whos, not sure of the exact name, but it dealt with Christmas!

Everything MTVMANN said was true about ours too.
Thanks so much ya'll. To tell you the truth, I am kind of glad that the cat and hat song is gone, its just not my favorite.
Our school did SEUSSICAL this past year. What I learned was that the MTI version of SEUSSICAL is a revised version of the OBC. It seemed that the OBC show had a lot of problems and it just became a huge flop on broadway... so they changed things around, cut things, added things, etc. Now, the have the MTI version that's available, and I dont think that the original OBC is still available anywhere... i dunno. Hope this helps!
MTI distributes the original tour production of Seussical. Immedietly after the poor reviews for the Broadway production, the writing team for Seussical revised the entire show. They took songs like A Day For the Cat in the Hat out, adjusted lyrics and characters, cut from the text of the show to shorten the run time and added in more music to make it a little more operatic.
