Shrek announced that a north american tour will kick off in june in Chicago at the Oriental Theatre (once where wicked toured and housed a sit-down production that last 4 years)
They said they plan on staying in Chicago for the entire summer, maybe longer.
When they said longer, does anyone but me think that they will follow in Wicked's footsteps and open a sit down at the theatre as well?
Any Cast info?

Young Frankenstein is having an open call for their tour in June, and it opens in the fall, so you can use that as your time frame. I'm sure they're trying to figure out how it all pans out with the Tonys before they even contemplate the tour.

For example, Xanadu planned on staying in Chicago from January through July, but tickets weren't selling, so they closed in March. Shrek seems like it'll be able to attract more families/tourists during the summer, so it might happen. Nothing's booked in the theater for the rest of the summer.

Posted: 5/12/09 at 8:30pmShrek's tour will most likely me a series of mini sit-down productions. Due to tech demands, load-in/load-out won't be possible under the normal 24-hour timeline, so it'll probably stick around for a few months in each stop to justify a longer tech schedule.
