re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

With young people today, it seems like there is so much homoeroticism going on (Superbad) that its almost like everybody is possibly gay until proven straight beyone a reasonable doubt....which is impossible....but it seems like so many people go from rumor to rumor.
The Dreamgirls singing in class is a little out there though.

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

I came out at 15 but didn't feel completely comfortable until 18. I was also co-president of my school's GSA my senior year.

Yeah...out, co-president of the gay club, and at an all-boys school to boot. But I'm not bitter about the whole experience...

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

I was 22 when I came out...a month ago...

14? I can't even imagine. In some regards, I think that would be easier. Actually - yes, I think it is easier...
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

I first started with close friends when I was 16 and it expanded until everyone knew the day I turned 19. I can't say I've suffered any losses at all and have only found positive things to say about the entire experience. It didn't take long for me to be comfortable with it around any new people and all those I knew either already knew or were completely fine with it. I consider myself lucky, but those bitches all knew they better accept it re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out It will definitely be something I couldn't see you regretting: after all, how the hell can anyone be mad that they were true to themselves and chose to be free in the face of so much silence and worries?

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

Wow. I am a late bloomer. I didn't come out officially until I was 31. Suddenly people realized that my "Partner" didn't mean JUST business partner! I had some serious homophobia to overcome in order to accept myself!

I've always felt you truly find out who loves you and who your real friends are when you come out. Congrats on the big step

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

I applaud you on being 14 and owning it.
It took me awhile, but once the whole incident with my sister, which I documented on here happened: I told my mother and aunt and my sister knew based off information she garnered in her searchings, and good friends know.
And the world at large just assumes, but as long as I'm happy with who I am and I have support behind me, I'm happy.

Congrats. :]

14! Wow...that's awesome--I wish I had come out then--my youth would have been more "Little Darlings" than "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret."

I came out when I was about 18 but didn't tell the 'rents till I was 30. Three. Oh. Long time....

Good for you and you should chat with vmlinnie...he's a young 'mo as well.

"The Dreamgirls singing in class is a little out there though."

What is that supposed to mean?

And congrats, BE2.

To be honest, George doe NOT look constipated in his avatar.

He looks like a constipated, fat, bland Paul Lynde.

Clumsy, what was the incident with your sister?

So, only 14, but you are a Broadway Enthusiast?

That's an awfully big word for a 14 year old...

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

BE2, Good for you! It's great that you feel BWW is a supportive community and are comfortable sharing this landmark in your life with us.

It's always inspiring when people on the board go out of their way to show they care. re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

It's also inspiring when someone like you accepts himself and lets the rest of the world know it. I have been honored in my life to be the first person to whom some of my friends came out. My first response was always to hug them and say, "That's wonderful! Now you can start to live the life you were meant to...and be truly happy."

A very admirable step. Congratulations!

re: So I Guess You Could Say I'm Out

Okay, why are all y'all avatar-hatin' up in here? Stop with the personal attacks...so not classy.

Congrats BE2. I came out at 16, chartered my city's first Gay Straight Alliance in High School and the first Gay Prom...it's not an easy step to take, but an important one. Be loud and proud, and we've got your back here on BWW.
