Is it Wednesday yet?

I've decided that now with SYTYCD and Project Runway on Wednesday, it's my favorite day.

re: So You Think You Can Dance

Ohh yay! I'm missing the show tomorrow because I'm seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I guess that's a good reason to miss the show though.

Have fun at Hairspray!

And you live in some universe where recording shows is forbidden?

Also, no spoilers, thanks!

re: So You Think You Can Dance

I had a dream last night that Natalie was filling in for our receptionist here at the church. We were chatting about being on drill team together while watching a SWAT team surround a suspicious-looking white car in our parking lot.

WTF?!?

I'm surprised I haven't had any dreams about anybody on the show. Especially Benji.

I'm gonna miss the finale show re: So You Think You Can Dance But I'll be on vacation for the week re: So You Think You Can Dance Record!

re: So You Think You Can Dance

My notes:

Donyelle and Travis: Hip Hop - I half agree with Nigel: the masks were a bad choice for Donyelle, but a good choice for Travis, who actually seemed, for the first time, to have personality on stage. The quickstep was one of the worst routines all season. I agree with the judges. And what is up with Travis's facial hair? Does he have a weak jaw line and uses the thin line of beard to define it? He should work his youth.

Allison and Ivan: Tango - very good as a couple, though I think, once again, Allison outshone Ivan, who has indeed grown through the competition. The hip hop was a great routine, surprisingly different choreography from Shane. Ivan showed Allison up, for once, at least stylistically, but her personality and presence made her shine nevertheless.

Natalie and Ryan: Disco - fun, solid routine, but my focus was always on Natalie, whose personality, as always, was highly evident; the camera work, however, was terrible. Contemporary - boring choreography beautifully danced.

Heidi and Benji: the couple we have all been waiting for! Broadway - that was the crappiest choreography I have seen this Benji stays the front runner, and Heidi continues to sneak up on him!

My prediction: I think Donyelle and Ryan are going home.

re: So You Think You Can Dance

My very quick & short notes & a happy surprise!

Donyelle & Travis: I liked the the hip-hop! I didn't think the masks weren't too bad. I didn't get the jungle theme they were talking about in the pre-video. The moves were pretty cool though. The quick-step was terrible. It was like weird.

Allison & Ivan: Loved the tango. It was really good. They hit my expectations. I also liked their hip-hop thing. Very cute/different w/ the umbrellas.

Natalie & Ryan: I think they had an ounce of chemistry. The disco was fun. I'm just not really into disco. The contemporary dance, was good, but I agree w/ DBillyP, tat it was a bit boring. I found myself being ADD during the dance. I didn't like the music that much.

Heidi & Benji: They are amazing together, well that & years of dancing together. I loved the Broadway church song. You can tell that they've dance together before. The mambo was awesome. Amazing. You could see some swing in it. The hot moves they had kinda grossed me out since they are cousins. But the best couple of the night.

Going home: Tough decision. I'm not really sure.

ETA: I forgot about my happy surprise!

re: So You Think You Can Dance

As much as i love Donyelle, I believe her time is up. Ryan should also be leaving.

Oh and yeah Heidi and Benji were amazing.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.

re: So You Think You Can Dance

For the first time, ever in my life, I actually phoned in and voted. Ben-ji Ben-ji

I think Travis might be a better solo performer, but I think Benji is the better all-around performer.

Ivan, bless his little heart, is out of his league. And Ryan is too.

Donyelle - I didn't mention that I thought she looked like she was being thrown around like a ton-a-bricks last week in the lindy hop. And I always thought that Benji showed tremendous strength to be able to carry her in all those lifts in the previous weeks. I like her personality (even though she couldn't say Viennese, puhleeze), but it's time for her to leave.

Heidi has really grown on me.

Nat - something about her personality...

Allison - maybe a better all around performer than Heidi.

I would have posted earlier, but I was too engrossed in Project Runway. re: So You Think You Can Dance

(sidetracking to Runway) OMG, yet again, the wrong person got sent home. that bitch has escaped 2 weeks now.

re: So You Think You Can Dance

Lauren, I actually think Allison is a better dancer than Heidi, but Heidi is a better performer.

re: So You Think You Can Dance

I don't know how you can separate the two. Dance, is a performance art. To be a great dancer, I believer you have to be a great performer. Heidi has both technique and performance skills, as does Benji. Nobody touches them, imo.
#399

re: So You Think You Can Dance

ugh!! Why can they not come to NYC 3-4 days later!! man =(

but i have to say Heidi & Benji are AMAZING!!!! They were just perfect last night. They ARE the competition and they will (unless America is CRAZY) be the final 2. I think they showed that they deserve to be in the final 2 last night.

re: So You Think You Can Dance

John, I am referring to technique (dancer) and to what they do with the choreography in performance (performer). Allison is, in my opinion, the superior technician, while Heidi more easily adapts to the performance of new styles. Both are outstanding dancers AND performers, but I think that they have different strengths.

Tchi, until last night, I would have disagreed with you that Benji and Heidi would be the final two. Benji has long been the frontrunner; Heidi, until last night, has been a dark horse. Being paired with Benji vaulted her into position to be a true contender. I am not sure that would have happened had she been paired with someone else.
