Ahhhhhhh, glory. Seriously, I have to have it.
Just to put things in perspective, how much in songs/pictures/video can 8GB actually hold?

Posted: 1/9/07 at 10:03pmI just finished watching the 2 hour Steve Jobs presentation, it was so compelling. There are a lot of things it's not, but for a first generation, it's pretty astounding.

Posted: 1/9/07 at 11:21pmThere was never a price break on iPods was there? Does Mac ever do price breaks? Don't they just come up with better models that do more stuff and charge even more for those?

I can't see the price ever changing. They will just push a next gen, higher gig model. If you get it at Bestbuy you can buy a plan to get a "free" upgrade. I've had Verizon for years and it's dunzo. I'm tired of all their scams and crap. They wont have this phone until 2011. They are still on CDMA network. So far behind... I've been waiting for this phone and so happy to get it.
Microsoft made a HUGE mistake this year by missing this boat. So happy to see Apple go into a new kind of business. Their entire product line is exactly what we need, products that are easier to use. I really hope they move in a eco-friendly direction soon though.

I'm very happy with my Dash. I expect this phone will sell very well because it's beautiful to look at but I do agree that the functionality seems based solely on the "get me! I'm cool!" look and feel of it but will severely disappoint on every other level.
Wait for the next generation, seriously.

Hey mejust- where'd you get 2011 for Verizon getting the iPhone, is that really the official date?
I am actually *extremely* happy with Verizon, been a customer since 2002 with no problems (knock on wood), but I would be willing to make the switch if it meant I could get the iPhone in something less than four years... I'm fickle like that. :)

I made that date up. This GSM phone is just not compatible with their archaic CDMA current network. I imagine Apple is going to make various types of phones as they have with iPod. Jobs mentions he would happy with 1% of the market, I think Apple could overtake it. The iTunes software and OSX interfaces are really unrivaled in functionally. Microsoft seriously missed the boat here. I know there is a lot of fear with the touch-screen, but Apple has a history of innovation and reinvention of the wheel. There have been some flukes; several versions of the iPod were well below the standard most Apple fans are used to. I really feel everything made from the inception of the very first iPods were a stopgap to this iPhone. It is the all-in-one we have all been waiting for. Apple had to build a new audience and they have. I’m sure whatever technology they are going with it is smart, sturdy and simple to use. Apple unlike every other company does not build technology to break.
I am however thrilled with what Bill Gates is doing with his fortune. I have had Verizon forever because it is the only phone I can get to work in the mountains in Pennsylvania. The big problem outside the hidden costs on my bill are the phones themselves. Verizon has just made bad decisions., Here’s to hoping my current LG phone lasts until I can get this iPhone.

Ah, cool, thanks- I thought you'd actually read 2011 somewhere, I wanted to see it. :)
I love my LG phone, in fact my most recent 2 year contract is up and I was thinking about trading it in for an enV, but now with the iPhone coming within the next year, I am rethinking the whole staying with Verizon thing- I have been wanting an iPhone for forever, and that way I wouldn't have to get a separate video iPod too.

Posted: 1/10/07 at 2:47pmSame for me Anakela. I really want the iPod video and this makes it perfect. The price is comparable.

I've done the math: If I put aside $25 every week from now until the phone comes out in June, I will have enough to buy it!! (Time to bust out my money jar.)
Once again I am reminded what a great idea it was to switch from Verizon to Cingular last year. Woohoo!
