
Finally, this past weekend, I visited the town of Zermatt, nestled at the base of the Matterhorn. When I arrived on Sunday, and took the rack rail to the Gornegrat, the first photo shows the summit of the Matterhorn, shrouded in cloud. It stayed like that all day. Monday was MUCH better, as you can see by the second photo, taken just after 7 a.m. from my hotel room balcony. The third photo was taken on the Klein Matterhorn, 12,000 feet high. I took three different cable cars to get up there. There were several people up there who were skiing and snowboarding. I really lucked out with Monday, as it was absolutely crystal clear up there.
