Love her. Saw the Re-Invention tour a couple of weeks ago. Wish I could remember more of it.
I really respect her for how hard she continues to work to improve herself. She really worked hard on her singing for Evita and it has shown in her work since then - the first time I heard the Ray of Light album I was blown away by the progress she made with her voice. A lot of singers would have not bothered but it was important to her to do a good job and not insist that she was already good enough. She has often admitted that she was not a great singer, but she has come a long way.
I even respect her for her shortcomings - when I saw Re-Invention, she very noticeably missed a high note - and I was thrilled - because it confirmed that she was singing for real, unlike a Britney Spears concert (can we call her BS for short?) where she never misses a note, even if she is doing the equivalent of aerobics at the time, for obvious reasons.
Madonna is not complacent, refuses to stagnate, continually tries to expand her abilities (suddenly learning guitar in her 40's?) - OK someone is going to attack me by saying that she is not a great guitar player, but that is irrevalent - the point is, she didn't have to bother! She rocked on Love Profusion! - and has never gotten boring (not an opinion, a fact - if you disagree then...I'll stop here because I know they censor certain words on this site).
