It did for me. After long and careful consideration, I am hereby endorsing Obama for president!

It has not aired in the West Coast yet. Will catch up on The View first. McCain is also on Larry king. I don't know if I can take it.

Nope. I did not watch it but heard the ending which made him sound like a cross between Jesus Christ & Mighty Mouse on a mission to save the world.

I thought it was brilliant. Obama was so positive and uplifting ... so refreshing from the crap the McCain/Palin the Ass camp have been throwing at us. Not a word about McCain, no smear campaign ... just focussing on what's important .. the American people and how to make our lives better. Watching CNN/Campbell Brown afterwards, even Republicans thought it was f'ing brilliant (as much as they hate to admit it).

I was afraid it would play like a narcissist's coming out party, but it was actually quite the contrary, understated and wisely focused on illustrating a persuasive context for the candidacy, rather than the candidacy as panacea. But am I biased? Absolutely. I wept, as Rachel Maddow said "from the waving grain", for many reasons, mainly because I've been waiting so long for this next era, and the thought that it might slip away in the next 6 days, through dirty tricks, hype and innuendo, a combo of Democratic hubris and poor turnout, or total conspiratorial stealing makes me crazy. I want this man to win, perhaps more than I've ever wanted anyone to win in my lifetime. I cannot fathom our cultural recovery if McCain squeeks by...

I've seen the infomercial run several times out here, Dame!

I agree. There's nothing at ALL about McCain in it. It really is an "info" -mercial. It gives you information about Barak, Michelle (who I love more every day), their family and history. And it focuses on his issues and his plans with specific details as to what he wants to do.

Part political interview, and part A&E Biography.

And it's very well done.

I felt like I was watching an Aaron Sorkin production and I loved it. If that would have been McCain- he would have taken the time to slam his opponent. Obama took the high road and it gave me chills to watch that enormous crowd in Florida! Stupid me turned over to Larry King to catch some of McCain talking about the LA Times thing. Luckily, Larry set the record straight. Only the ignorant base will believe that crap. I decided to not even watch the rest of the King/McCain interview because the more I watched, the more I cringed!

My completely unbiased opinion:

I thought it was brilliant. As an Obama supporter, it didn't necessarily fire me up to vote, but it didn't need to. This was aimed directly at the undecided voter, and anyone who is still undecided should have been watching. I think this would play well to the undecided/independent crowd.

Brilliant! Inspiring, intelligent, dignified, eloquent and heartfelt. Not a single disparaging word about McCain or Palin. No attacks. No name calling. No low blows. Not only did it make me want to vote for him, it made me proud to be an American. I can't wait to walk into that voting booth on November 4 and pull that lever for Barack Obama. I can't wait to be a part of history and a new beginning for this country; looking optimistically to the future, and finally, at long last, leaving the stench of the last eight years behind in the past once and for all.

Too bad Obama was for public funding before he was against it.

Once again we have the Democratic template: showing sob stories cross cut with politicians praising their own kind.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

... vs. McCain doing nothing but smearing his opponent.

We have no idea WHAT the details of his "policies" are, because he doesn't bother with details.

He doesn't know them.

At least Obama has a plan to actually look at and criticize. McCain has nothing but a smear campaign.

Some of the right wing thought this Obama's way of showing that he'd already won the presidency. I thought it proved the opposite. He knows he cannot slack off six days before the election and he is going to keep campaigning and fighting for the Oval Office until November 4th.

Though I thought the waves of grain at the beginning was a little cheezy, I cried when that old man was talking to Obama about how he lost his entire pension and when Obama talked about losing his mother to cancer. If she only knew what her son would become.

If we are successful on November 4th (knocks on wood with all my might), I will cry many tears of joy.

It felt like an episode of This American Life on Showtime. He was clear and showed that he was behind the middle class.

"McCain has nothing but a smear campaign."

And not even a well-orchestrated one. They're all over the place!

And Obama not only refrained from attacking McCain in the ad, he didnt even mention his name. Not once! It was classy but also a really brilliant slap in the face...i.e., "you're not even a factor here." How much do you think THAT infuriated McCain?

It was very well produced and hit all the right notes. I felt that it presented Obama as a trustworthy person who is genuinely in touch with the middle class--without ever pandering to them or using them as a prop (a.k.a. Joe the fake plumber/plant/what have you). I loved it and thought it was beautifully done. Kudos!

I thought it was BEAUTIFUL <33

Completely positive, completely hopeful, and just... really really beautiful! EXACTLY what we needed right now, and exactly what's made me love Obama from the beginning :) He's a break from the nastiness of the McCain campaign.

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

I thought it was really great. If it hasn't already been mentioned Obama and Michele have "it." They work so well on television and I am very happy Obama used my money for this. It was perfect.

"Too bad Obama was for public funding before he was against it.

Too bad McCain broke campaign financing laws in the primary.

Once again we have the Republican template: Divide the American public with fear and social issues. Get them hot and angry then they might vote.

Well it's over Goth. OVER! The best thing Obama has done is proven you can win both a primary and a general election with poise, grace and tact. I know how very hard it is to unite a country that can be divided in the blink of an eye, Obama has done this in a blink of an eye.

Godspeed the new millennia!

You Kool-Aid drinkers are unbelievable! You're incapable of being objective.

I loved the fat lady and her fat daughter who lamented about whether to buy a gallon or half-gallon of milk. Meanwhile, neither one of them looked like they miss any meals, and the mother had a $75.00 nail-job, and the daughter was wearing a $300.00 sports jacket. So, someone who hasn't a clue about managing a budget, is going to elect someone who is equally clueless? And the old people who had issues with heathcare, are already getting healthcare from the government. So now, we're supposed to all accept crappy government healthcare with glee? Oh, and pay for it, too? He shared his peanut butter and jelly and his toys, now he wants to share YOUR peanut butter and jelly and YOUR toys. The budget-crunching that he's going to be faced with, is unbelievable. He's not going to be able to do the things he says. Most of his claims are extremely unlikely to ever happen. He the candidate for people who like to think of themselves as victims. He keeps telling us how horrible out lives are. Who's life is that horrible? But keep drinking the Kool-Aid. I understand how people just want to have a complete change, and he provides that; but to actually believe anything he says, is just silly.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid??

I don't see Obama fans carving backwards letters in their backwards faces or pretending to be beat-up. I don't see them hanging McCain dolls in effigy. A very frightening act, by the way. Or finding a phony "average Joe" to pin all their ill-conceived analogies on.

Who's supporters are acting like cult-followers here? One answer.

"That other guy!"

Well, that's always the comeback to anything said about Obama. But my comments aren't about John McCAin. My comments are about Obama. That's what the thread is about. His infomercial. I made no comparison or claim about John McCain. Why even bring him up in this discussion?

I missed the price tag on the women's nails and jacket. I guess you had to be watching in HD to see it.

But wow. Having less of a budget for food actually is going to make you more likely to gain wait, because you have to buy cheap stuff like Hamburger Helper and such that you can spread over several meals.

Because of your Kool-Aid comment, JB2.

It was pretty clear.

That's not about Obama at all. Neither was your entire post. It was about his supporters.

EDIT: And your comment about fat people not really being poor was vile. That's like saying, "See? Those little children with the big bellies in those third-world countries don't need food. They're already fat around the middle, so they must be getting all the food they need!"

What truly makes this infomercial effective is that it is dominating the news cycle for two days. McCain needs a game-changer, and all day yesterday and all day today the media is focusing on the informercial.

Putting that aside, for the last week the McCain campaign has gone totally negative while Obama has gone almost completely positive. This makes McCain seem small and petty, and Obama comes across as, well, presidential.
