Calvin, that line bothered me too. I wasn't allowed to submit my article unless I had the information backed up from the other source.
I also think the part about the seat-moving was improperly explained. The last time I flew Southwest, a family was amongst the last to board, but children under 16 aren't allowed to sit in the exit row seats, so they asked if two people could trade places with the boy and his dad. My friend and I volunteered. I've never heard of them asking people to move just so a family can sit together, and if he had to sit next to the screaming baby, I doubt that's the issue here.
Yup, OS. Single-source stories are an absolute no-no. And what Borstal says about the paper's history just adds to my unease.
I just flew Southwest and I found the flight attendents were the rudest and nastiest that I have ever seen. It must be in their training. After that truip , I tend to believe the story.
Oh ... I understand what Borstal says, believe me.
Something happened ... and I would love to hear Southwest's side of the story, especially after the clothing incident earlier this year. And even if the guys were difficult, if that flight attendant did call them "fags" at any time, that's inexcusable.

Not if you say in the name of Jesus!
I just flew on Southwest when I went out to Texas for Thanksgiving. The attendants - at least the ones on my flights - didn't seem to be as ornary as the one mentioned in the article. However, it is true that some folks feel it's perfectly fine to use a slur, despite their job title or situation. The only thing that struck me as odd during my first flight was how one attendant seemed to focus all her attention on a Indian woman seated in front of me. (She kept asking the woman if she "could understand English" repeatedly, even though it was clear that the woman could comprehend the regulations of airline safety).
Although, just doesn't add up in this case. I say this mainly in part of what Borstalboy said about the paper's reputation.

how about this...
"excuse me miss, can I get something to drink?"
Isn't that better than stewing for five miserable hours?

...in the airline industry??????? It's all fags and hags with cats!
