So, what's on your Thanksgiving menu?

Overcome by Southern maternal and spousal guilt intensified by the echo of my husband's words as I dropped him off at work this morning: "We can go out for Thanksgiving if you'd rather" -- I went and got a load of heat-uppable stuff at the grocery this morning, plus there's one item I've personally prepared. So now here's the official "something for everyone" menu (I see leftovers in our future):

Lemon pepper rotisserie chicken
Chicken tenders
Old-fashioned cornbread dressing
Cranberry orange relish
Green bean casserole (will add extra French's Original French Fried Onions on top, for crispiness)
Even *more* French Fried Onions on the side (especially for the two green bean haters)
Sweet potato casserole (may add some Jack Daniels and marshmallows)
Baked potato salad w/ sour cream, bacon, stone-ground mustard (^impulse buy; may save this for another upcoming meal)
Alton Brown's Stove Top Mac 'n Cheese (this is the aforementioned item I've cooked myself; it's pretty easy breezy)
Hawaiian rolls (choice of Irish butter or Country Crock margarine/whatever)
Marie Callender Key Lime Pie

One of us will fill up mainly on the veggies and a little of the chicken.
One will mostly eat chicken, dressing, maybe sweet pot. cass. One tenders, mac 'n cheese, rolls. Dessert, everyone should go for.

Most of the store bought main course stuff requires a 325 degree oven for between 20 to 35 minutes, I think.

I can do this! Maybe even without cussin' too much in the kitchen tomorrow!

I must sound like the laziest "cook" in America. lol

(edited to finish a thought I hadn't finished; senior moment!)

So, what's on your Thanksgiving menu?

Turkey, which we wrap in bacon while it cooks. This keeps it moist and also infuses it with delicious flavor.

Two versions of stuffing: one vegetarian and one made with Andouille sausage and cornbread.

Morel mushroom gravy from scratch.

Roasted Brussels sprouts cooked with bacon.

Roasted potatoes. Call me crazy, but I'm not a fan of mashed.

Citrus-glazed green beans.

Butternut squash soup.

Fresh cranberry sauce.

Fresh baked biscuits and cornbread.

Bourbon pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and mincemeat pie.

Cabernet, Sancerre, and bourbon.

So, what's on your Thanksgiving menu?

Most foodie friends turn their noses up at me, but I have ZERO issue with store bought cranberry sauce/jelly. 90% of our menu is always home made, but that's one item that I think is just as good out of a can/plastic tub than it is homemade.

So, what's on your Thanksgiving menu?

I'm usually given the pity task of making the cranberry jelly, but this year I've been promoted to dessert. I'm doing a chocolate brownie/raspberry cake, which I really should have started by now.

What have you decided on, Horse?

Man, that seems so insane to me. Homemade, whole berry cranberry sauce tastes so much better, and more tarte and flavorful than the stuff I have seen out of a tube.

As for me, our gathering is being catered by the Dig Inn Seasonal Market, their food is amazing, so I'm looking forward to it. But, I will make my homemade cranberry sauce :)

So, what's on your Thanksgiving menu?

Well, Jay, I was going to do an apple/pear crumble. Far less adventurous than my usual stuff, but Father HorseTears had specifically requested a hot dessert that goes well with cream. And what did he do last night? He went to the grocery store and bought a Julian Apple Berry Crumble. Because he was craving it and couldn't wait until Thanksgiving. I might end up making an Earl Grey Chocolate Cake.

So, what's on your Thanksgiving menu?

You can have my aborted attempt at a date/orange/cardamom tart, if you like. It may look revolting, but it has quite a pleasant aftertaste.

Anyway, good luck to all chefs/bakers! I know I for one will need it to get through tomorrow unscathed.
