Overcome by Southern maternal and spousal guilt intensified by the echo of my husband's words as I dropped him off at work this morning: "We can go out for Thanksgiving if you'd rather" -- I went and got a load of heat-uppable stuff at the grocery this morning, plus there's one item I've personally prepared. So now here's the official "something for everyone" menu (I see leftovers in our future):
Lemon pepper rotisserie chicken
Chicken tenders
Old-fashioned cornbread dressing
Cranberry orange relish
Green bean casserole (will add extra French's Original French Fried Onions on top, for crispiness)
Even *more* French Fried Onions on the side (especially for the two green bean haters)
Sweet potato casserole (may add some Jack Daniels and marshmallows)
Baked potato salad w/ sour cream, bacon, stone-ground mustard (^impulse buy; may save this for another upcoming meal)
Alton Brown's Stove Top Mac 'n Cheese (this is the aforementioned item I've cooked myself; it's pretty easy breezy)
Hawaiian rolls (choice of Irish butter or Country Crock margarine/whatever)
Marie Callender Key Lime Pie
One of us will fill up mainly on the veggies and a little of the chicken.
One will mostly eat chicken, dressing, maybe sweet pot. cass. One tenders, mac 'n cheese, rolls. Dessert, everyone should go for.
Most of the store bought main course stuff requires a 325 degree oven for between 20 to 35 minutes, I think.
I can do this! Maybe even without cussin' too much in the kitchen tomorrow!
I must sound like the laziest "cook" in America. lol
(edited to finish a thought I hadn't finished; senior moment!)
